A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THREE SECTIONS OF SANITARY SEWERS, AND
PROVIDING THE TERMS AND MANNER IN WHICH BIDS SHALL BE RECEIVED
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMLISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of three (3)
sections of sanitary sewers, heretofore designated as Contract No. 2,
as follows:
Contract 2. - Sanitary Sewers consisting of three
sections. Section 1, SJxt treet sewer and force main,
includes approximately 3052 feet of 27 inch V.C.P.
gravity sewer and 3085 feet of 16 inch mechanical joint
C.I.P. force main. Section 2, Third street sewer and
force main includes approximately 5209 feet of 24 inch
V.C.P. gravity sewer 340 feet of 8 inch V.C.P. gravity
sewer, 256 feet of lb inch V.C.P. gravity sewer 12 feet
of 18 inch V.C.P. gravity sewer and approximately 1586 feet
of 12 inch mechanical joint C.I.P. force main. Approxi-
mately 3620 feet of the 21, inch V.C.P. and the 12 feet
of 18 inch V.C.P. shall be of extra strength pipe.
Section 3, George street sewer, includes approximately
1208 feet of 1$ inch gravity sewer, 260 feet of 12 inch
gravity sewer and 4.0 feet of 8 inch gravity sewer. The
18 inch and 12 inch pipe are to be extra strength V.C.P.
Copies of the plans and specifications are on file in the office
of the City Engineer, City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky and in the office of
Black & Veatch, Consulting Engineers, 4.706 Broadway, Kansas City 2,
Missouri and may be examined there without charge. Contractors
desiring pland and specifications for use in preparing bids may obtain
same from the Consulting Engineers upon application accompanied by the
deposit of ;15.00 for each set obtained. The full amount of the
deposit made for one set of the plans and specifications will be
refunded upon the return of all documents not filed with the bid and
$5.00 for other sets will be refunded upon return of documents
covered thereby, all irlthin 30 days after the bids are opened.
Bids must be accompanied by cashierts check, certified check
or acceptable bidder's bond, payable to the City of Paducah in an
amount not less than five per cent of the total of the bid submitted.
The right is reserved by the City to award the work by contract
or section, to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities
therein. No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of 30 days after
the time set for receipt of bids.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for the aforesaid
bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice
of the request for bids in at least one (1) issue of the Paducah Sun -
Democrat. The notice shall ba posted and published at least seven (7)

days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within
ten (10) days from the date of the adoption of this resolution. No
bid shall be received unless under seal, nor shall any bid be received
after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids
received by the City Pdanager up to the time fixed in the notice shall
be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to
the lowest responsible bidder or bidders. The Board shall reserve
the right to reject any or all bids and the City shall not become
legally obligated until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the
execution of a contract and fixing the terms and conditions thereof.
SECTS This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after•its'adoption.
