A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY I=TANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THREE (3) SEWAGE PUNP_STATIONS,
THREE (3) SECTIONS OF SANITARY SEWERS AND ONE SEWAGE TREATI-IEhIT
PLANT, AND PROVIDING THE TERMS AND MANNER IN WHICH BIDS SHALL
BE RECEIVED
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of three (3)
sewage pump stations, three (3) sections of sanitary sewers and
one (1) sewage treatment plant, the same Teeing divided into three
contracts .for which separate proposals shall be submitted as follows:
Contract 1.- Sewage 4aStations, consisting of three
sexage pump stations each equipped with three pumping
units and appurtenant equipment.
Contract 2 - Sanitar Sewers, consisting of three
sections. Section 1, Sixth street sewer and force main,
includes approximately 3052 feet of 27 inch V.C.P.
gravity sewer and 3085 feet of 16 inch mechanical joint
C.I.P. force main. Section 2, Third street sewer and
force main includes approximately 5209 feet of 24 inch-
V.C.P. gravity sewer 340 feet of 8 inch V.C.P. gravity
sewer, 256 feet of lb inch V.C.P. gravity sewer 20 feet
of 18 inch V.C.P. gravity sewerand approximately 1586 feet
of 12 inch mechanical joint C.I.P. force main. Approxi-
mately 3620 feet of the 24 inch V.C.P. and the 12 feet
of 18 inch V.C.P. shall be extra strength pipe.
Section 3, George street sewer, includes approximately
1208 feet of 18 inch gravity sewer, 260 feet of 12 inch
gravity sewer and 40 feet of $.inch gravity sewer. The
15 inch and 12 inch pipe are to be extra strength V.C.P.
Contract 3 - Sewage Treatment Plant, consisting of con-
struction of a complete sewage treatment plant and
appurtenant equipment at Sixth street and Terrell street.
Copies of the plans and specifications are on file in the
office of the City Engineer, City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky and
at the office of Black and Veatch, consulting Engineers, 4706
Broadway, Kansas City 2, Missouri and may be examined there
without charge. Contractors desiring plans and specifications
for use in preparing bids may obtain same Thom the Consulting
Engineer upon application accompanied by deposits as follows
for each set obtained:
Contract 1 ----- ;15.00
Contract 2 ----- ;115.00
Contract 3 -- ;¢15.00.,
The full amount of the deposit made for one set only of the
plans and specifications for the particular contract on which a bid
is submitted, will be refunded upon the return of all documents not
filed with bid and 4?5.00 of each other deposit will be refunded upon
return of documents covered thereby, all within 30 days after bids
are opened.

Bids .'mist be accompanied by cashier's check, certified check
or acceptable bidder's bond, payable to the City of Paducah in an
amount not less than five per cent of the total of the bid submitted.
The right is reserved by the City to award the work by contract
or section, to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities therein.
No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of 30 days after the time
set for receipt of bids.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for the aforesaid
bids by posting anotice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice
of the request for bids ih at least one (1) issue of the Paducah Sun -
Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven (7)
days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opaned within
ten (10) days from the date of the adoption of this resolution. No
bid shall be received unless under seal, nor shall any bid be received
after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall
be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to
the lowest responsible bidder or bidders. The Board shall reserve
the right to reject any or all bids and the City shall not become
legally obligated until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the
execution of a contract and fixing the terms and conditions thereof.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
