A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO REQUEST THE KENTUCKY
RAILROAD COMMISSION TO DESIGNATE PADUCAH, KENTUCKY AS THE PLACE
AT -WHICH TO CONDUCT THE HEARING REQUESTED BY ILLINOIS CENTRAL
RAILROAD COMPANY FOR PERMISSION TO DISCONTINUE THE OPERATION OF
ITS PASSENGER TRAINS NOS. 103 AND 104 BETWEEN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY
AND FULTON, KENTUCKY
WHEREAS, the Illinois Central Railroad Company has filed with
the Kentucky Railroad Commission a petition for the discontinuance
of its trains Nos. 103 and 104 operating between Louisville, Kentucky
and Fulton, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, this Board, by a resolution, has declared its opposition
to the granting of such discontinuance; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this Board that it is to the best
interest of the city and surrounding territory and the citizens thereof
that such hearing be held in Paducah in order that a larger number
of witnesses will be available than would be if the hearing should be
held in Frankfort, Kentucky.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF C014 IISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor of the City of Paducah be, and he
is hereby, authorized to request the Kentucky Railroad Commission
to designate Paducah, Kentucky as the place where it will conduct
the hearing upon the petition of Illinois Central Railroad Company
for the discontinuance of its passenger trains Nos. 103 and 104
operating between Louisville, Kentucky and Fulton, Kentucky,
SECTION 2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be attached
to the request made by the Mayor, and that one be forwarded to Mr, Wayne
A. Johnston, President of the Illinois Central Railroad Company and one
to Mr. W. E. Davis, Superintendent of its Kentucky Division.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
