OF PASSENGER TRAINS NOS. 103 AND 104 OPERATED BETWEEN LOUISVILLE,
KENTUCKY AND FULTON, KENTUCKY BY ILLINOIS CENTRAL RAILROAD COMPANY
WHEREAS, the Illinois Central Railroad Company has
petitioned the kentucky Railroad Commission for permission to
discontinue its passenger trains Nos. 103 and 104 operated between
Louisville, Kentucky and Fulton, Kentucky; and
,WHEREAS, such proposed discontinuance would result in
the City of Paducah, Kentucky being without any train passenger
service in and out of the City; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Board of Commissioners
that the economic growth and development of the City will be greatly
hindered and reduced by such discontinuance, and that the citizens
of the city and all businesses will suffer a great amount of in-
convenience; and
WHEREAS, the citizens, businesses and institutions of
Paducah and Western Kentucky need the services rendered by said two
trains and are entitled to them.
NOVI THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVRD BY THE BOARD OF COMTLTSSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the proposed discontinuance of Illinois
Central Passenger trains Nos 103 and 104 operating between Louisville,
Kentucky and Fulton, Kentucky, now pending before the Railroad
Commission of Kentucky be, and the same is hereby opposed by the
City of Paducah for the reasons that such discontinuance would leave
the city without any passenger train service and would thereby
adversely affect the economic growth and development of the city,
the County of McCracken and adjacent counties and towns in Western
Kentucky, and would also wcrk a hardship and inconvenience on the
citizens, businesses and institutions of said city and adjacent
tefnitory.
SECTION 2. That certified copies of this Resolution be
forwarded to the Kentucky Railroad Commission, Mr. Wayne Johnston,
President of the Illinois Central Railroad Company and Mr. W. E.
Davis, Superintendent of its Kentucky Division.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption. /f
