A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPA :T U;T TO I.1AKE CERTAIN
IIsPROVEi•iIITS 0:: PARK AVENUE BETJZEN 17TH STREET AND THE CITY LIi•1ITS
UHER,AS, Park Avenue is a State and Federal highway from 17th Street
to the city limits and the State Highway Department has assumed responsibility
for construction and maintenance of said highway; and
WHEREAS, the volume of traffic moving through the city along this
highway has increased tremendously; and
I'MEREAS, Park Avenue from 17th Street to the entrance to Noble Park
at 28th Street is the main route used by automobiles going to Noble Park
and such traffic in addition to the high volume of highway traffic has
created great traffic congestion between 17th Street and the city limits;
and
WHEREAS, a sidewalk is needed on the north side of Park -.Avenue betwaen
24th Street and the City Limits to provide a safe means of access for a large
number of pedestrians going to i''oble Park who now just walk dangerously close
to motor vehicle traffic along certain_ portions of this highway;
I:01'1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF CO14,ISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KEITUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah request the State Highway
Department to undertake the following improvements on Park Avenue at the
earliest practicable time:
a. 1iden the pavement to a width of 42 feet from curb
to curb from 17th Street to the City Limits.
b. Curb and gutter on the north side of Park Avenue
from 17th to 20th Streets.
c. Curb, gutter and sidewalk on the north side
from 24th to 27th Streets, and sidewalk from
27th to the City Limits.
d. Curb and gutter on the south side from 22nd
Street to the City Limits.
SECTIOIi 2. That the City I•ianager transmit a copy of this Resolution
to the ionorable 1.7illiam P. Curlin, Commissioner of Highways of the Common,;,eal'c
of Kentucky.
