AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
WITH R. B. TYLER COMPANY, INCORPORATED, FOR RESURFACING OF NOT MORE
THAN 67 BLOCKS OF STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, INCLUDING
THE RAISING AND RESETTING OF 11ANHOLES AND CATCH BASINS, AND PRESCRIBING
THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID CONTRACT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized to contract with r. b.'tyler company, Incorporated,
(hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor") for the resurfacing
of not more than 67 blocks of streets in Paducah, Kentucky, set out
and described in a resolution passed -by the Board of Commissioners
on May 25, 1954, and said work shall be done on the following terms,
conditions and specifications:
Said surfacing is to be from gutter to gutter with full
widths to street property lines at all intersections. The surfacing
of the present pavement shall be leveled where necessary and surfaced
with 12" application of Kentucky State Highway Class "I", Type "B"
Bituminous concrete surfacing, Class "I" Bituminous leveling course
said work to include bituminous prime coat and the raising and resetting
to grade of manholes and catch basins located in the areas to be
surfaced. All work is to be performed under the direction of the
City Engineer and shall be paid for when same is certified, approved
and accepted by the City Engineer.
Said work of resurfacing shall be paid for by the City to said
contractor on the following basis:
Class "I" Type "B" Bituminous Concrete Surface -
Unit price $7.35 per ton
RC -2, tack coat applied at the rate of .10 gallon per square
yard -
Unit price $.16 per gallon
Raising man holes -
Unit price $35.00 each
The Contractor shall resurface only such blocks of said
streets as may be authorized in writing by the City Manager, and
such authorization shall not exceed the total number of 67 blocks
nor shall it exceed the total bid of the Contractor in the sum of
$81,321.114.

The Contractor is to execute,a performance bond or bonds
in an amount not less than the estimated cost of the work wuthorized
by the City Manager to insure the proper performance and completion
of said work and in adfition will be required to keep in full force
and effect liability insurance to protect the City from any claims
to persons or property of persons in the following amounts:
10,000 for personal injury or death to any one person
20,000 for personal injury or death to more than one
person resulting from the same accident, and
5,000 for damage to property in any one accident.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular
meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky
and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection
in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage,
but it being necessary for the public health and safety of the City
of Paducah, Kentucky that such streets be resurfaced as soon as possible,
an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be
in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
