AN ORDMINCE PROVIDING FOR APPLICATION MR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
ADDITIONAL HOSPITAL FACILITIES AND NURSES? RESIDENCES FOR PADUCAH MUNICIPAL HOSPITAL
KNOW AS RIVERSIDE HOSPITAL, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH TO SIGN TIB; FORM
OF APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL ASSISTAi`ICE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF DEFENSE PUBLIC WORKS UNDER PUBLIC
LAW 139 - 82d CONGRESS REQUESTING FUNDS FOR SAID PUBLIC WORKS.
IffiEREAS, there is urgent need for the further improvement of Riverside Hospital
including the expansion of hospital facilities and the addition of a nurses? residence with
classrooms and other facilities due to the increased number of hospital cases because of the
increase growth of the City of Paducah and surrounding area; and
IMEREAS, it appears that the total estimated cost of this project idll amount to
two million dollars, and the City has no funds with ?which to finance such project, and
WHEREAS, revenue bonds have been issued to the fullest extent in order to provide
additional fabilities and other revenues have been provided from the operation of the
hospital and through donations and subscription in order to improve the present hospital fac-
ilities,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COA@ffSSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1 That the City of Paducah, in order to extend and improve the
hospital facilities of the Paducah Municipal Hospital, known as Riverside Hospital, and to
provide a nurses? residence with classrooms and other necessary facilities, apply for
federal assistance for the construction necessary to improve said hospital and to construct
said nurses? home under Public Law No. 139 - 82d Congress, and that the grant requested in
said application be in the amount of two million dollars, and that Robert C. Cherry, Mayor
of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be and he is hereby authorized and empowered to execute
on behalf of the city of Paducah Form No. H - 944 of the Housing and Home Finance Agency
"APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF DEFENSE PUBLIC WRICS UNDER PUBLIC
LAW 139 - 82d CONGRESS" and that said application containing request for Federal assistance
above indicated and such other information as will be necessary to support said application.
SECTION 2 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its adoption.
