A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR RESURFACING
CERTAIN SECTIONS OF JEFFERSON STREET AND NORTH 13TH STREETM INCLUDING WORK OF RAISING
AND RESETTING AM HOLES, CATCH BASINS AND MONUMENTS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF CONMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager advertise for bids for resurfacing Jefferson
Street between the east property line of 2nd Street and the east curb line of North 6th
street; also that portion of Jefferson street between the west curb line of North 9th
street and the east curb line of North 12th street, and also 13th street between the
north property line of Broadway and the sought property line of Jefferson street,
said surfacing to be from gutter to gutter with full widths to street property lines at
all intersections between said points and said work shall be on the following terms,
conditions and specifications:
The surfacing of the present pavement shall be leveled s,rhere necessary and
surfaced with 12 inch application of Kentucky State Highway Class "III bituminous
concrete resurfacing, said work to include the raising and resetting to grade of man holes,
catch basin structures and monuments located in the area to be resurfaced.
Persons desiring to submit bids will do so nn the basis of the following
estimate of quantities and work: A requirement of 1360 tons of Class 'IV' bituminous
concrete surfacing at an unit price per ton in place, and an estimated total of 35 man
holes, catch basins and monument castings to be set to finished grade, said bid !j
to state the cost per each casting unit. Bidders shall agree to complete said work 1
within a period of sixty (60) days from the date of letting a contract therefor. All
work id -11 be performed under the direction of the City of Paducah Engineering Department.
Said work shall be paid for upon certificate of completion thereof and when approved
and accepted by the City Engineer.
The successful bidder will also execute a performance bond in the amount of I
estimated cost of the work as shown on bid to insure the proper performance and completion
of said work and in addition will be required to keep in full force and effect liability
insurance to protect the City of Paducah from any claims to persons or property of
persons in the following amounts:
$10;000 for personal injury or death to any one person
$20,000 for personal injury or death to more than one person resulting from
the same accident, and
$5,000 for damage to property in any one accident.
SECTION 2. The City'Manager shall advertise for the aforesaid bids by posting
a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at
least one issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least
seven days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten days from
the date of the adoption of this resolution. No bids 'shall be received unless it is under
seal, nor shall any bid be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of

bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall
be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to the lowest
and best responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to
reject any and all bids and the city shall not become legally obligated under a
contract for the aforesaid work until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the
execution of the contract.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
