A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE .PURCHASE
OF ONE NEW FIVE PASSENGER, FOUR DOOR AUTOMOBILE FOR USE IN THE STREET DEPARTMENT AND
PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS ON WHICH SAID PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1 That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for
bids for the sale to the City of Paducah of one (1) new five passenger, four door automobile,
black color, with a minimum horsepower rating of 95, to be used in the Street Department of
City of Paducah. Each bidder is to state the amount that he will accept in cash for the
purchase price of the automobile he offers for sale, and also the amount he will accept
in payment of the purchase price by accepting as a trade in of a certain 1949 Studebaker
Sedan now is possession and use by the Street Department, baring license number 5-279,
so the City can determine the cost of purchasing said new automobile, and the trade-in
allowance to be allowed for said used automobile in its present condition. The automobile
to be purchasdd, whether by payment of cash for the full purchase price or by trade-in
allowance of the aforesaid automobile, shall be of the kind having a list price of not more
than $2,000, and each bid shall state the length.of time required for delivery after a
contract is awarded.
SECTION 2 The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted up at
the city hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids at least in one
issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven days
prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten days from the date on
which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall be received unless under seal, nor shall
any bid be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the
Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The
Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the
city shall not become leggally obligated to purchase said automobile until the adoption of
an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract.
