AN ORDINANCE AAiEN'DING SECTION 5 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTTITLED: "AN
ORDINANCE REGULATING THE OPERATION OF TAXICABS AND CARRIERS OF PROPERTY
FOR EIRE IN THs CITY OF PADUCAH; REGULATING AND LICeNSING THE DRIVERS OF
TAXICABS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR
VIOLATION THEREOF", WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COI-!MISSIONERS ON
JANUARY 29, 1952
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF C01,11ISSIONER3 OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 5 of an ordinance containing the title
quoted above, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on January
29, 1952, be and the same is hereby amended so that said section as amended
shall read as follows:
"SECTION 5. Application for taxicab driver's license. It shall be
unlawful to operate a taxicab without a taxicab driver's license, and any
person desiring to obtain such a license shall submit to the Chief of Police
a completed application on forms to be furnished by the City, containing the
following information:
a. Full name and hone address.
b. address of all other residences during the last five ,years.
c. Age, color, height and color of eyes and hair.
d. Place of birth, and marital status.
e. Length of time he has been a resident of the city.
f,! Whether a citizen of the United States.
g. Places where employed and names of employers during the last five
years.
h. Whether he has ever been convicted of a felony or r;;-sdemeanor, and
if so the nature, place and date of each conviction.
i. Whether he has been prevbously licensed as a taxicab driver or
Chauffeur and if so when and where.
j. If he has previously had a taxicab driver's or chauffeur's license
or an ordinary state motor vehicle operator's license, whether any such license
has ever been suspended or revoked, and if so the date, place and cause of each
suspension or revocation.
k. ).ust furnish names of two reputable residents of the city, who
have known the applicant personally, as references for applicant's character
and reputation.
1. Whether he holds all state licenses required to qualify as a taxi-
cab driver.
m. Whether he can read, write and speak the English langua.-e.
n. The applicant's finger prints shall be impressed on the appli-
cation form by an officer of the Police Department.
o. There shall be attached to each application two front view photo-
graphs of the applicant taken within the last year and of a size specified
on the application form, one of these photographs to be attached to his license.
p. Applicant must certify that he is in good physical condition and
mentally capable to operate a taxicab. If the Chief of Police has reasonable
grounds to believe that a physical examination of any applicantshould be
required then said applicant may be required to obtain a physical examination
by a licensed physician or surgeon holding a medical degree, certifying that
said applicant is physically capable of operating a taxicab on the streets in
Paducah, Kentucky and has no physical defects which would handicap him in such
operation/
q. Such additional information as may be required by rules and regula-
tions
Each such application and statement shall be signed and sworn to by the
applicant, and any false statement made by the applicant shall invalidate any
license that may be issued as a result of such application."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its adoption.
