A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE
PURCHASE OF THREE (3) NEW 16,000 G.V.W. MOTOR TRUCKS WITH HYDRAULIC DUMP BODY
FOR USE IN THE STREET DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH; AND PRESCRIBING THE
SPECIFIC TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO BE COMPLIED WITH BY BIDDERS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to
advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah three (3) new 16,000
G.V..'I. motor trucks with hydraulic dump body, to be complete with cab, heavy
duty front and rear springs, and oil filters. Each body to be of 3 yards water
level capacity 8 x 62, shall be constructed to allow for extension to increase
capacity and shall be equipped with hydraulic hoist. The wheel base of each
truck shall beproper length to distribute the load on chassis, and each truck
shall be equipped with disc wheels, with 750x20 10 ply tires front and 825-20
10 ply pual rear tires. The brakes shall be enclosed. Capacity - shall have
two speed rear axle with oversixed radiator.
Each bidder shall also state the amount acceptable in payment of the
full purchase price in cash, and also the amount he will accept in payment of
the purchase price for three new trucks by accepting as trade-ins three used
trucks, which trucks may be examined at the Street Department, 919 Madison
Street, in Paducah, Kentucky. The bidder shall submit a complete description
showing the standard equipment of the trucks he proposes to sell, together
with all of the auxiliary attachments. Said price to be f.o.b. Paducah,
Kentucky.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted
up at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in
at least one issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published
at least seven days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened
within ten days from the date on which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall
be received unless under seal, nor shall any bid be received after the hour
fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City
Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the Board of
Commissioners who may let the contract to the lowest and best responsible
bidder. The Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any
and all bids and the city shall not become legally obligated to purchase
said trucks until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a
contract.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its adoption.
