"AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO TRAFFIC AND REGULATING THE USE OF PUBLIC STREETS IN
THE CITY OF PADUCAH; DEFINING AND ESTABLISHING PARKING METER ZONES AND
REGULATING AND CONTROLLING AND PROVIDING FOR INSPECTION OF THE TIME PARKING
OF VEHICLES THEREIN BY THE USE OF PARKING METERS; PRESCRIBING LIMITS OF TIME
FOR PARKING IN PARKING DIETER ZONES; AND PROVIDING FOR ENFORCEMENT OF THIS
ORDINANCE AND PUNISHMENT FOR ITS VIOLATION", WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD
OF COMMISSIONERS ON JULY 9, 1946, AND AMENDED ON JANUARY g, 1952
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Sections 2, 6 and 7 of an ordinance containing
the title quoted above, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on
July 9, 1946, and amended on January 8, 1952, be, and the same is hereby
amended so that said section shall read as follows:
"SECTION 2. The following portion of streets extending a distance
of 7 feet and 8 inches from the respective curb lines toward the center of
the respective streets, on both sides of said streets, unless otherwise in-
dicated are hereby established as parking meter zones:
a. Bxoadway between First Street and Ninth Street
b. Jefferson Street between First Street and Sixth Street,
also on the north side of Jefferson Street between Sixth
Street and Seventh Street.
c. Kentucky Avenue between First Street and Sixth Street and
on the North side of Kentucky Avenue between Sixth Street and
Seventh Street.
d. Monroe Street between Fourth and Sixth gtreets.
e. Washington Street between Third Street and Sixth Street
f. First Street on the west side between Broadway and Kentucky
Avenue.
g. Second Street between Jefferson Street and Kentucky
Avenue, provided that the zones shall be adjacent to each
side of the Market House between Broadway and Kentucky Avenue.
h. Third Street between Washington and Jefferson Streets.
i. Fourth Street between Washington and Monroe Streets
j. Fifth Street between Washington and Monroe Streets
k/ Seventh Street between Kentucky Avenue and Jefferson Streets
Provided, however, there shall not be included within any of the
aforesaid meter zones those portions of said zones which cross any one
of the aforesaid streets at its intersection with another street.
"Section 6. Between the hours of 8:00 o'clock A. M. and 8:00 o'clock P. M.
qn Fridays and between the hours of 8:00 o'clock A. M. and 6:00 o'clock P. M.
of every day except Sundays, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day,
Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, it shall be unlawful for any person to
cause, allow, permit or suffer any vehicle registered in his name or operated
or controlled by him to be parked in any space adjacent to which a parking meter
is installed during any time.when the meter is showing a signal indicating
that such space is illegally in use - other than such time as is necessary to
operate the meter to show legal parking - and provided also that it shall likewis
be unlawful to park for any consecutive time longer than the time indicated
for the following parking meter zones:
(1) Zones limited to sixty (60) consecutive minutes parking:
First Street between Kentucky Avenue and Broadway,
Third Street between Washington and Jefferson Streets
Fourth Street between Kentucky Avenue and Jefferson Street
Fifth Street between Kentucky Avenue and Jefferson Street
except west side adjacent to Post Office property.
(2) Zones limited to thirty (30) consecutive minutes parking:
East side of Fifth Street adjacent to Greyhound Bus Station
South side of Kentucky Avenue adjacent to Greyhound Bus Station
Broadway between Second and Seventh Streets except north side
adjacent to Post Office property
(3) Zones limited to twelve (12) consecutive minutes parking:
North side of Broadway and west side of Fifth Street adjacent
to Post Office property. South side of Kentucky Avenue adjacent
to City Hall.
In all other parking meter zones parking shall be limited to One
Hundred Twenty (120) consecutive monutes.
Provided also that except on Sunday and on those holidays listed
above it shall be unlawful to park in the 12 minute zones adjacent to the
Post Office property at all times of day or night if the meter shown a sigrsal
indicating that such space is illegally in use or for any time longer than
12 consecutive minutes.
"SECTION 7. The meter charge for parking in parking meter zones shall be a
one cent for each twelve (12) minutes except in thirty (30) minute zones where
the charge shall be one cent for each six (6) minutes, and payment of said
charges shall be made for parking in the areas set forth hereinabove.
aECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its adoption.
