AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: "AN
ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF ATTORNEYS TO REPRESENT THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, IN LEGAL MATTERS; FIXING THE NUMBER TO BE EMPLOYED AND
THE AMOUNT OF THEIR COMPENSATION; PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF SUCH ATTORNEYS;
AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH", WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY
THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON APRIL 24, 1951, AND AMENDED ON AUGUST 14, 1951
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. Thatr Section 5 of an ordinance containing the title
quoted above, which ordinance was adopted on April 24, 1951, and amended
on August 14, 1951, be, and the same is hereby amended and reordained so that
said section as amended and reordained shall read as follows:
"SECTION 5. The City Manager is further authorized to employ for
the City of Paducah, until June 30, 1952, an attorney to be designated as
Special Counsel who shall represent the city in any proceeding it may be
required to initiate for the reduction of rates for gas service, the litigation
involving the acquisition of the electric utilities system of the Kentucky
Utilities Company, the four flood damage suits now pending against the city,
and any other damage suits that may be filed against said city prior to
June 30, 1952•"
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption.
