AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN WATER MAINS AND FOR CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS TO THE PLANT
OF THE PADUCAH WATER WORKS, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH TO
SIGN THE FORM OF APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF DEFENSE
PUBLIC WORKS UNDER PUBLIC LAW 139 - 82d CONGRESS REQUESTING FUNDS FOR SAID
PUBLIC WORKS
WHEREAS, the Commissioners of Water Works on December 31, 1951
approved the application for Federal assistance in the construction of certain
water mains and certain additions to the Water Works properties which are
necessitated by the increased number of users and will continue to increase
because of the future growth of the City of Paducah; and
WHEREAS, said Commissioners of Water Works have requested that
the City of Paducah apply for Federal assistance for said construction; and
WHEREAS, it appears that the total estimated cost of the project
will amount to $650,567.00, of which amount the applicant will be required to
furnish *214,870.00, and that this latter amount will be available by the Paducah
Water Works from the sale of bonds, depreciation account, surplus accounts and
income from the operation of the Paducah Water Works.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY;
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah, in order to improve the
properties of the Paducah Water Works and to provide additional mains necessary
for the proper operation of the water system within the city limits, apply for
Federal assistance forlthe construction necessary to improve said water works
system and properties under Public Law 139 - 82d Congress, and that the grant
requested in said application be in the amount of $a435,697.00, that the funds
to be furnished by the City of Paducah be in the amount of $214,870.00, that
the total estimated cost of the prpject be $p650,567.00, and that Robert C. Cherry,
Mayor of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be, and he is hereby authorized to ex-
ecute on behalf of the City of Paducah Form No. H-944 of the Housing and Home
Finance Agency "APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF DEFENSE
PUBLIC WORKS UNDER PUBLIC LAW 139 - 82d CONGRESS", and that said application
contain a request for Federal funds in the amount above indicated and such other
information as will be necessary to support said application.
SECTION 2. Be it further ordained that in the event said application
is approved and the funds so requested, or any part of them, are granted by the

Federal Government, that the funds to be furnished by the applicant City of
Paducah shall be such funds as may be available by the Paducah Water Works
consisting of unsold water revenue bonds issued September 30, 1930, and such
other revenue which may be available in the Water Works accounts as depreciation
funds, surplus account funds or funds obtained from the operation of said Water
Works, but that said revenue will be available for this purpose only upon the
adoption of an appropriate ordinance in the event said grant is approved.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption.
