AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITE MANAGER TO ENTER INTO CONTRACTS WITH
THE E. M. BAILEY DISTRIBUTING COMPANY AND THE STANDARD OIL COMPANY FOR THE PUR-
CHASE OF GASOLINE TO BE USED IN ALL OF ITS GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS FOR A PERIOD OF
FOUR (4) MONTHS BEGINNING MAY 16TH, 1950, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND
UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASES SHALL BE MADE
WHEREAS, pursuant to a resolution of the Board of Commissioners, the City
Manager advertised for bids and received the bids of the E. M. Bailey Distributing
Company, the Standard Oil Company, and the Shell Oil Company for the sale to the
City of Paducah of gasoline to be used in all of its governmental operations for a
period of four (4) months, beginning May 16, 1950; and
WHEREAS, both the E. M. Bailey Distributing Company and the Standard Oil
Company submitted bids for the sale of regular gasoline having an octane rating of
85 at 20.9 cents per gallon, and Ethyl gasoline having an octane rating of 91 at 22.4
cents per gallon, and said bids being the lowest and best bids which were received)
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COP+MISSIONERS OF TIE CITY I
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
.SECTION 1. That the City cC Paducah purchase, for the period of four (4)
months beginning May 16th, 1950, one-half of the gasoline required in all govern-
mental operations from the E.M.Bailey Distributing Company and one-half thereof
from the Standard Oil Company, and the City Manager is hereby authorized, for and
on behalf of the City of Paducah, to enter into a contract with each of said com-
panies, said contract with the E. M. Bailey Distributing Company to provide for th
purchase from said company, as nearly as it is possible and practicable to do dura
said period, of one-half of the gasoline requirements of the City of Paducah, the
gasoline and the price therefor being described in the bid of said company as
follows:
"Regular gasoline minimum research octane rating
of 85 to 86, a price of 20.9 cents per gallon,
Trade name, Aetna.
Ethyl gasoline minimum research octane ratiung
of 91 to 92, a price of 22.4 cents per gallon,
Trade name, Aero Aetna."
and the City Manager is also authorized to enter into a contract with the Standard
Oil Company to provide for the purchase from said company, as nearly as possible
and practicable to do during said period, of one-half of the gasoline requirements
of the city, the gasoline and the price therefor being described in the bid of sai
company as follows:
"CROWN GASOLINE (Regular) - Minimum Research Octane
85 - 20.9 per callon including 7.0� per gallon
State Tax, but excluding 1.5� per gallon Federal Tax.
CROWN EXTRA GASOLINE (Premium) - Minimum Research
Octane 91 - 22.4¢ per gallon including 7.0� per
gallon State Tax, but excluding 1,15� per gallon
Federal Tax."

The aforesaid prices shall include states taxes but shall not include
federal taxes, and the purchases shall be made subject to the further terms set
forth in the bid of the E. M. Bailey Distributing Company dated May 8th, 1950 and
in the bid of the Standard Oil Company dated May 5th, 1.950, which bids are filed
herewith and made a part hereof to the same extent as if fully copied herein.
SECTION 2. The gasoline shall be purchased upon the further condition
that in the event of a decline in the consumer tank wagon price of said products
at any time during said period, the City shall be given the benefit of such reduc-
tion in price, and the City Tdanager shall include in said contracts such other terms
and conditions as may be necessary to protect the interests of the city.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular meeting of the
Board of Commissioners and remain on file at least one week for public inspection
in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and shall be
in full force and effect ten (10) days from and after its adoption.
