AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSING OF A PORTION OF THAT TWENTY (20) FOOT
PUBLIC ALLEY EXTENDING IN A SOUTHERLY DIRECTION FROM THE SOUTH SIDE OF JACKSON
STREET IN THE BLOCK BETWEEN TWENTY-SIXTH AND TWENTY-SEVENTH STREETS AS DESCRIBED
THEREIN; AUTHORIZING THE CORPORATION COUNSEL TO INSTITUTE IN THE McCRACKEN CIRCUIT
COURT A SUIT TO CLOSE SAID ALLEY BY ORDER OF THE COURT; AND AGREEING TO THE
ACCEPTANCE OF A DEED FROM C. W. PEEL AND HIS WIFE, RUBYE PEEL, DEDICATING TO THE
CITY OF PADUCAH FOR USE AS A PUBLIC ALLEY A STRIP OF GROUND EXTENDING FROM THE
EASTERLY SIDE OF TWENTY-SEVENTH STREET IN THE BLOCK BETWEEN WATTS BOULEVARD AND
JACKSON STREET AS DEFINED THEREIN; AND PROVIDING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON
WHICH SAID DEED OF DEDICATION SHALL BE ACCEPTED
WHEREAS, as will be shown by a deed of conveyance of record in Deed Book 219,
page 29, in the McCracken County Court Clerk's office, C. W. Peel and his wife,
Rubye Peel, are the owners of a strip of land having a frontage of 1782 feet
on the east side of Twenty-seventh street, said property being Lots Nos. 32, 34
and 36 and a strip of land 8 feet in width along the northwesterly line of Lot No.
30 adjacent to Lot No. 32, all in Watts Boulevard to the City of Paducah, a plat
of which is of record in Plat Book "A", page 97, in the McCracken County Court
Clerk's office, and all of said lots as shown on the aforesaid plat front upon
Twenty-seventh street and extend back in an easterly direction 150 feet to a 20
alley; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to a motion adopted by the City Planning and Zoning Board on
February 11, 1950, the relocation of said lots by having them front upon Jackson
Street instead of Twenty-seventh street was approved; and
WHEREAS, the said C. W. Peel and his wife, Rubye Peel, in consideration of the
agreement of the City of Paducah to close a portion of the aforesaid alley extendink
from the south side of Jackson Street in a southerly direction in the block between
Twenty-sixth and Twenty-seventh streets, have agreed to dedicate for public use and
for use by the traveling public generally a strip of ground extending from the
easterly side of Twenty-seventh street in the block between Watts Boulevard and
Jackson street as said proposed alley is defined herein;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah, in consideration of the agreement of C.W.
Peel and his wife, Rubye Peel, to dedicate as a public alley the strip of ground
described in Section 2 hereof, does hereby authorize the closing of all of that
portion of a public alley twenty (20) feet in width extending from the south side
of Jackson street in a southerly direction through the block between Twenty-sixth
and twenty-seventh Streets, the portion of said alley to be closed hereby being
more particularly described as follows:

"Beginning at a point on the south property line of Jackson Street
150 feet east o f the southeast corner of the intersection of Twenty-
seventh street and Jackson street, being the intersection of the west
line of a 20 foot alley with the south property line of Jackson street
thence at right angles and in a southerly direction and with the west
line of the alley, a distance of 158.5 feet; thence at right angles an
in an easterly direction a distance of 20 feet to the east line of sai
alley; thence at right angles and in a northerly direction and with th
east line of said alley 158.5 feet to the south property line of Jacks
street; thence at right angles and in a westerly direction and with th
south property line of Jackson street 20 feet to the point of beginnin
and the Corporation Counsel is hereby authorized and directed to institute a
suit in the McCracken Circuit Court pursuant to the provisions of KRS 93.360
for the purpose of carrying the provisions of this ordinance into effect.
SECTION 2. That if the closing of the aforesaid public alley shall be
approved by the judgment of the Court, that the City of Paducah accept the
offer of C. W. Peel and his wife, Rubye Peel, to dedicate for public use
and as a public alley that strip of ground running fro;n the easterly side of
Twenty-seventh street in an easterly direction through the block between Watts
Boulevard and Jackson Street, said strip of ground being more particularly
described as follows:
"Beginning at a point on the east property line of Twenty-seventh
street 158.5 feet south of the southeast corner of the intersection
of Twenty-seventh street and Jackson street, thence at right angles
and in an easterly direction 150 feet to the west line of a 20 foot
alley; thence at right angles and with the west line of said 20 foot
alley in a southerly direction; thence at right angles and in a
westerly direction 150 feet to the east property line of Twenty-seventh
street; thence at right angles and in a northerly direction and with
the east property line of Twenty-seventh street 20 feet to the point
of be ginning.
Also a triangular tract of ground off of the south west corner
of Lot 3$ of Watts Boulevard Addition. Beginning at a point at the
southwest corner of said lot 38 in Watts Boulevard Addition, said
point being 165 feet south of the south property line of Jackson
street and 170 feet east of the east property line of Twenty-seventh
street and also being the intersection of two 20 foot alleys; thence
in an easterly direction and with the north line of a 20 foot alley,
10 feet; thence at an interior angle of 330 05 feet and in a north-
westerly direction, a distance of 11.96 .feet to the east line of a
20 foot alley; thence at an interior angle of 56 55 feet and south
With the east line of said 20 foot alley a distance of 6.5 feet to
the point of beginning.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption.
