A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE
PURCHASE OF ONE COMBINATION PUMPER FIRE TRUCI{; AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND
CONDITIONS UNDER ',_,H ICI( SAID PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to
advertise for bids for the purchase of one combination pumper fire truck. The
bidders for the sale of said truck. The bidders for the sale of said truck to
comply with the following specifications and conditions:
Each bidder shall submit his lowest and best bid for the sale of one triple
(combination pumper fire truck.of seven hundred and fifty (750) gallons per minute
capacity.
The fire truck offered for sale by rach bidder shall comply with the 1947
i
edition of Suggested Specifications on Municipal Fire Apparatus, published by the
International Associations of Fire Chiefs, under the heading of "Information for
contractors", "Provisions applying to all types of apparatus", and "Special provisio
for pumper (triple combination.)';" except as modified and added to by the specifi-
cations below:
The fire truck offered for sale shall have two top mounted booster reels
with 200 feet of 3/4 inch hose on each, and a 3/4 inch fog nozzle for one set and a
chrome finish shut off nozzle for other set. It shall have a 250 gallon booster
tank of rust resistant material (each bidder to specify material used), with an
alternate figure for an all copper tank; also one 15 pound carbon dioxide extingui-
sher (CO2 or equal) and one two and one-half (2 1/2) gallon foam extinguisher; also
two standard size aluminum ladders; one extra three section 35 foot aluminum ladder;
and one extra 14 foot aluminum extension ladder; all ladders to be mounted on truck.
The fire truck offered for sale shall have installed in it one free rolling siren
(Federal or equal) with red flasher light; one 12 inch locomotive bell. Siren and
bell to be reinforced at point of mounting to prevent cracking of body materials;
one 10 inch searchlight mounted on right side of truck; two red lights mounted on
opposite sides of cowl; hose body to carry minimum load of 1,200 feet of two and
one-half (2 1/2) inch double jacket hose and 500 feet of one and one-half (1 1/2))
double jacket hose. Trio longitudinal partitions in hire body to form two compartmen
each compartment to carry minimum load of 500 feet of one and one-half (1 1/2) inch
double jacket hose. Locket to be under rear steps. A locker under each one and one
half (1 1/2) inch hose compartment with a door at rear. Two side lockers in front
of rear fenders under one and one-half (1 1/2) inch hose compartments. One locker
over pump compartment. All lockers to use reasonable amount of available space and
not to be merely token lockers. Centrifugal pressure volume type pump. Rotary gear
priming pumps. Tuo-way pumper gated siamese 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 5" to fit threads
of sample furnished by city. Threads on two and one-half (2 1/2) inch outlets to be
National Standard equipped with adapters to thread used by city. Bidder to furnish

a certified copy of SAW Gasoline Engine Test Code for each motor. Seats to comply
with suggested specifications of National Board of Fire Underwriters.. Parts custom-
arily of bright finish to be chrome plated. Wheels to be disked. Gasoline tank to
be of capacity required for two hours continuous operation of motor at full capacit .
Bidder to give delivery date and length of guarantee on apparatus, and bidder to
agree to furnish performance bond for delivery of apparatus on or before such
delivery date. Bidders shall state the location of the factory where apparatus
or equipment is to be built, and the make and type of each principal unit of the
machine or equipment. Each bid shall be accompanied by complete detail specifica-
tions of the ppparatus, motor chassis and equipment which it is proposed to furn-
ish and to which the apparatus or equipment furnished under the contract must
conform in addition to specifications above.
SECTION 2. The City I:"anager shalladvertise for bids by posting a notice
at the City Hall door and by inserting a notice of the request for bids in at leas
one issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least
seven (7) days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten
(10) days from the date on which this resolution is adopted. No bids shall be
received after the hour fisted in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening
of bids shall be filed with the Hoard of Commissioners who may let the contract to
lowest responsible bidder or bidders. The Board of Commissioners shall reserve
the right to reject any and all bids and the City of Paducah shall not be legally
obligated to purchase a fire truck until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing
the execution of a contract.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its adoption.
