AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF ROE y9ILKINS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
TIM WEST END FIRE STATION BUILDING ON PROPERTY LOCATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF
JACKSON STREET NEAR LOVELAG'EVILLE ROAD IDI THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; PRO-
VIDING FOR THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID FIRE STATION
AND PAYMENT THEREFOR TO ROE WILKINS IPI THE SUPd OF 5P'26,897.00; AUTHORIZING
ROBERT C. CHERRY, THE MAYOR, TO EXECUTE SAID C014TRACT FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO BE CONTAINED
IN SUCH CONTRACT
KERNTUCKY:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF C011•1161ISSIONERS OF TI -I -E CITY OF PADUCAH,
SECTION 1. That the bid of Roe Wilkins dated October 30, 1953
offering to construct a fire station designated in said offer as the "West End
Fire Station", same to.be located on property owned by the City of Paducd,
Kentucky, on the north side of Jackson street near Lovelaceville Road in
said City, for the sum of ;?26,897.00 be accepted, and that Robert C. Cherry,
the Mayor of said City, is hereby authorized to execute the following contract
to be entered into between the City of Paducah, Kentucky and the said Roe Wilkins:
"THIS CONTRACT AND AGREEi•IENT, made this the day of
1953, by and between Roe Wilkins, hereinafter called the 'Contractor?, and
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, hereinafter called the 'Owmer';
W I T N E S S E T H:
That the Contractor and the Owner, for the consideration stated herein,
mutually agree as follows:
ARTICLE I
STATFI-ENT OF WORK. The Contractor shall furnish all labor,
material, equipment and services and perform and complete all work required for
the construction of West End Fire Station on the north side of Jackson Street
near the Lovelaceville Road in Paducah, Kentucky in strict accordance with the
specifications for the construction of said hest End Fire Station and Addenda
thereto numbered 1 and 2 dated October 21, 1953 and October 22, 1953 and the
drawings referred to therein, all as prepared by Kee Potter Smith, Architect,
which said specifications, addenda and drawings are included herein by reference
and made a part hereof.
4RTICLE II
THE CONTRACT PRICE. The Owner shall pay the Contractcr for the
performance of the Contract in _current funds, subject to additions and deductions
as provided in the specifications, the sum of ;2$,897.00, in such amounts and at
such tunes as provided for in the General Conditions of the Specifications.

ARTICLE III
CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. This Contract shall consist of the
following component parts:
a. This Instrument
b. General Conditions
c. Special 'Conditions
d. General Scope of Mork
e. Technical Specifications
f. Drawings
This instrument, together frith the other documents enumerated in this
Article III, which said other documents are as fully a part of the
Contract as if hereto attached or herein repeated, form the contract.
In the event that any provision of any other component part of this
Contract conflicts rrith any provision of any other component part, the
provisions of the component first enumerated in this article III
shall govern, except as otheniise specifically stated. The various
provisions in Addenda shall be construed in the other preference of
the component part of the Contract which each modifies.
ARTICLE ISI
SUPERVISION AND INSPECTION. Whe Contractor is to cooperate
with the City Engineer and agrees t'�iat his work may be inspected and
supervised at any and all times by said City Engineer, who shall represent
the O=er, along with such other city employees that may be designated
by the City Engineer.
IN 11ITNESS WHEREOF, the partkes hereto have caused this
instrument to be executed in five original counterparts on the day and
year first above written.

SECTION 2. This"ordinance shall be introduced at a regular
meeting of the Board of Commissioners and remain on file for public inspectior
for at least one (1) week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon
its final passage. Because of the ;great increase in population and the
building of new construction in the City of Paducah, the present fire pro-
tection facilities of the City are in reed of an additional fire station, and
the public health and sa_"ety requiring that this ordinance be made immediately
effective, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall
be in full force and effect from and aft e its adoption.
