ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF C01fMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, ORDERING THE FILING
OF PLANS AND cPF.CIFICATIONS FOR TffE CONSTRUCTION
OF A NEW HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING IN TIE OFFICE OF
THE 9ITY CLERK OF THE CITY OP PADUCAH AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE AN
AMENDED AND CORRECTED ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID HIGH SCHOOL
BUILDING.
l✓HEREAS, plans and specifications for the construction of a
new High School Building in Paducah to be financed from the proceeds of
a proposed issue of City of Paducah School Building Revenue Bonds have
been duly prepared and approved in accordance with KRS 162.160, and
I.IHEREAS, the Board of Education of the Paducah Independent School
District published an advertisement for bids for the construction of
said school building in the Paducah &zn-Democrat on June 22, 1953, such
advertisement having been made in the name -of the Board of Education,
and
WHEREAS, it is desired that a new advertisement be made in the
name of the Board of Commissioners of the City in accordance with the
provisions of KRS 162.160, and
WHEREAS, at a meeting held on July 13, 1953, the Board of
Education of the Paducah Independent School District adopted a resolution
offering to enter into a lease of the school building, when completed,
with the City, as provided in KRS 162.140 and requesting the City to
publish an Amended and Corrected Advertisement for Bids for the construct-
ion of said new school building,
NOW ITEREFORE, THE BOARD OF C01111ISSIONERS OF T.;IE CITY OF PADUCAH
DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOI✓S:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of the City shall
cause the duly approved plans and specifications for the construction of
the new High School Building to be filed in the office of the City
Clerk of the City of Paducah, as required by ARS 162.160.
SECTION R. That said plans and specifications having been duly
approved, and the Board of Education having offered to lease the new High
School building to be constructed, in the form of a Contract, Lease and
Option of the kind provided in KRS 162.140, the City Clerk is hereby
authorized and directed to publish the following advertisement for bids
forthe construction of said new High School Building:

FOR THE CONSTRUCTIDN OF A NEW HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING
IN PADUCAH.
The advertisement for bids for the construction of a new
biigh School Building in Paducah, which bids were originally advertised
to be received until 8:00 P.g. Central Standard Time, on Nonday, August 3,
1953, is hereby amended and corrected to read as follows:

ADVERTIsmENT FOR BIDS
The Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah,
McCracken County, Kentucky, will receive sealed bids for the
construction of a new High School Building, including
General Work; Electrical Work and Conduits; Plumbing, Sewer-
ing and Gas Piping Work; Heating, Ventilating and Compressed
Air Work and Kitchen Refrigeration; and Kitchen E uipment,
under separate proposals until 8:00 o►clock P.M. (C.S.T.)
on Monday, August 10, 1953, at the office of the City Clerk,
Paducah, Kentucky, at which time and place all bids will be
publicly opened and read.
The successful bidder will be required to furnish a
satisfactory performance Bond.
The Contract Documents, including Plans and 5peeifications,
are on file in the offices of D. Charles Wilson, Architec=t,
1115 Harrison Street, 13t. Vernon, Illinois and at 603 Baaadway
Room 11, Paducah, Kentucky.
Copies of the plans and documents may be obtained by
prospective prime contractors upon deposit of One Hundred
Dollars 0100.00) with D. Clarence Wilson, Architect, 1115
Harrison Street, lft. .Vernon, Illinois, for each set of
documents so obtained. The fall amount of the deposit for
two sets of the documents will be refunded to 'each actual bid-
derwho returns the plans and documents in good condition within
ten days after the opening of bids. Non -bidders who return
the plans and documents in good condition within one week
after receipt of plans and more than two weeks prior to the
date of bid opening will be refunded 080.00 for each set. All
other non -bidders will be refunded X50.00 for each set of plans
and documents returned in good condition rithin ten days after
the opening of bids.
The Board of Commissioners of the City of Padua&,
McCracken County, Kentucky, reserves the right to reject any
or all bids and to waive any informalities in bidding.
A Certified Check, Bank Draft, Government Bonds, or
Cash, payable to the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky, or a satisfactory
bond executed by the Bidder and a &zrety Company in an
amount not less than five percent (5i,�) of the bid shall be
submitted with each bid.
No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of bids
without the ansent of the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky, for a period
of 45 days after the scheduled time of opening of bids.
The general prevailing rate of wages in the locality in
which the work is to be performed for each craft or type
of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract has
been determined and a complete schedule of such rates
incorporated here by referencq, can be found in the speci-

SECTION 3. That the Board of Commissioners shall at the time or
subsequent to the acceptance of the best construction bid, provide for
the advertisement and issuance of a sufficient amount of School Butlding
Revenue Bonds to finance the cost of said construction.
SECTION 4. That all ordinances or motions in conflict herewith
are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.

That this ordinance shall take effect in accordance with the
provisions of KRS 89.230.
