A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACTING CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE PACKER -TYPE REFUSE COLLECTION TRUCIC, AND
PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASE SIiALL BE IRADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF CONUISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
R4DUOAR: KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Acting City Manager be, and he is hereby
authorized to advertise ,for Pids ,for the sale to the City of Paducah of
one packer -type refuse collection truck. Bids to be submitted on chassis
and body separately in accordance with the following specifications:
CHASSIS
The chassis to have a minimum cab to rear axle (ca) dimension
of 102 inches, also a minimum rear axle capacity of 16,000 pnvnds;
to be equipped with 825x20 - 10 ply first line truck tires, 100
level, duals in rear. All standard equipment to be listed and to
include directional signal lights, spare tire and tuve and two
(2) side view mirrors. Earliest reliable delivery date to be
stated with delivery to be made by successful bidder to the
assemble site of the successful body bidder. Basic bid to be
on conventional type chassis with an alternate bid to be included
for a cab over engine chassis.
BODY
Body to have a minimum capacity of 12 cu. yds. and shall be so
constructed that the collected material is transferred from.
a rear loading hopper to the 'body by a device or packing plate
actuated by double acting hydraulic cylinders. Body shall be
constructed of high tensile steel and be heavily reinforced;
shall be equipped with a hydraulic hoist .for raising and lowering;
shall have a side door provided on curb side and platforms large
enough ,for two (2) men to ride with safety. Hopper shall be con-
structed of high tensile steel and have a minimum capacity of
3/4 cu. yd. Packing plate or retaining plate shall completely
seal off body from hopper so that no loose material shall fall back
into the hopper while the hopper is being loaded. Closing of
rear door and actvatinp of packing mechanism, shall be accomplished
by a single lever. near door shall fold inward and away from
operator for safety reasons. aid price shall inclvti',e complete
painting and lettering as specified by the City and conforming to
that of presently used packer -type refuse collection trucks.
Chassis for mounting of body small be furnished by others and
delivered to assemble site of successful uodu bidder. Bartlest
reliable delivery date g1ter receipt of ciassis must be stated.

the request for bids in at least one issue of the Sun -Democrat.
The notice shall be posted and published at least seven days prior
to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten days
from the date on which this resolution is adopted. No bid shall
be received unless under seal; nor shall any bid be received after
the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of._bids. All bids
received by the City hanager up to the time fixed in the notice
shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the
contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioners
shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the city

shall not become legally obligated to purchase said truck until
the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the executiongf a contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
