AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH
THE MiID-CONTINENT PETROLEUM CORPORATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF ALL REGULAR AND
ETHYL GASOLINE, DIESEL FUEL, MOTOR OIL, CHASSIS LUBRICANT, GEAR LUBE OIL AND
ANTI -FREEZE FOR USE BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH IN ALL OF ITS GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS I
A PERIOD OF EIGHT MONTHS BEGINNING MAY 1, 1953; AND PRESCRIBING THE TERi=IS AND
CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASES SHALL BE !•LADE
WHEREAS, on April 17, 1953 the City Iianager published in the Sin -Democrat
notice of a request for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah of regular
and ethyl gasoline, diesel fuel, motor oil, chassis lubricant, gear lube oil
and anti -freeze required by the City of Paducah in all of its governmental
operations for a period of eight months, beginning May 1, 1953; and
WHEREAS, under a.Resolution adopted by the Board of Commissioners on Iiay
12, 1953 the action of the City Manager by advertising for said bids was ratified
and approved; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said request for bids, the Standard Oil Company, the
E. M. Bailey Distributing Company and the 14id-Continent Petroleum Corporation
submitted bids for furnishing the City of Paducah with its aforesaid gasoline
and oil requirements; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended the acceptance of the bid of
MIid-Continent Petroleum Corporation, and it appears to the Board of Commissioners
that the offer of said company is the lowest and best which has been submitted,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMIMISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized for
and on behalf of the City of Paducah to enter into a contract with the Mid -
Continent Petroleum Corporation for the purchase of all regular and ethyl gasoline,
diesel fuel, motor oil, chassis lubricant, gear lube oil and anti -freeze required
by the City of Paducah in its governmental operations during a period of eight
months beginning May 1, 1953, which contract shall be in words and figures
to-vri.t : I
That the Seller (meaning the Mid -Continent Petroleum Corporation) hereby
agrees to sell and the City (meaning of Paducah) hereby agrees to buy "all
regular and ethyl gasoline, diesel fuel, motor oil, chassis lubricant, gear lube
oil and anti -freeze required in all governmental operations of the City of
Paducah for a period of eight months beginning May 1, 1953, and the sale of
said gasoline and oil products shall be made upon the following terms and
conditions:
(1) The Seller shall supply and deliver to the City regular and ethyl
gasoline, equal to or exceeding 80 octane and 90 octane, respectively, and the
Seller agrees to furnish the City motor oil to be detergent heavy duty premium
and first grade oil, diesel fuel to be No. 2, chassis lubricant to be all-
purpose, gear lube oil 140 weight, and anti -freeze to be of the permanent type,
and the Seller agrees to sell said products to the City as the following prices:

Regular Gasoline Brand D -X
Ethyl Gasoline: Brand - D -X Ethyl
Posted tank wagon prices at time of delivery less discounts of 1¢
per gallon and less Federal Tax of 2¢ per gallon. In no event shall
the net price of Regular Gasoline exceed 20.7¢ per gallon, nor shall
the net price of Ethyl Gasoline exceed 22.20 per gallon.
The octane .rating of Regular Gasoline is guaranteed to equal or
exceed $4; and octane of Ethyl Gasoline is guaranteed to equal or
exceed 90.
Diesel Fuel - .132 per gallon. Price guaranteed against advance,
buyer to receive benefit of decrease in event of price reduction.
Motor oils - Full detergent heavy duty premium oil (exceeding
S-1 requirements)
Brand: DX DHD 70¢ per gal. in 55 -gal drums
(exclusive of Federal Tax)
Detergent heavyy duty premium motor oil (exceeding MIL -0-2104
specifications) I
Brand: DX 67¢ per gal. in 55 -gal. drums
(exclusive of Federal Tax)
A drum deposit of?6.00 is required on each 55 -gallon drum, such
deposit to be refunded upon return of drum in good condition, usual
wear and tear excepted.)
All Purpose Chassis Lubricant:
Brand: 7#642 DX All-purpose grease

The above listed prices on motor oils and greases represent our
maximum discounts of 9¢ per gallon on motor oil and 12¢ per pound on
grease. Any other motor oils and greases which may be desired would
be priced in accordance with our regular schedule of prices less the
maximum discounts above mentioned.
Above prices are guaranteed against advances - Buyer to receive benefit
on any price reduction.
Permanent Type Anti -freeze:
Brand Peak
Cases 6/1 gal cans ;2.51 per gal.
Cases 24/1 qt. cans 2.68 per gal.
Prices guarantees against advance - Buyer to receive benefit of any
price reduction.
(2) All of the aforesaid prices shall include the State Tax but shall
be exclusive of Fed$ral Tax.
(3) It is further a part of the consideration for this contract that
the Seller shall install at its expense and permit the City to use during
the term of this contract the following described equipment:
3 computing type electric garoline pumps (1 to replace old pump at
Fire Station, 2 to be located at 9th and Madison)
1 computing type electric diesel pump, necessary underground tanks and
concrete islands for the above.
(4) In the event of a decline in the retail price of any of the afore-
said products at any time during said period, the City shall be given the benefit)
of the market reduction in the prices therefor, but in am:y no event shall the
prices for said products exceed the amounts for which the same are to be sold as
provided in this contract."

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be first introduced and remain on file
one (1) week for public -inspection in the completed.form in which it shall be
put upon its final passage. As the various departments o£.the city must be
immediately supplied with gasoline, diesel fuel, motor oil, chassis lubricant,
gear lube oil and anti -freeze for the protection of the public health, safety and
fare an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full
and effect from and after its adoption.
