THEREFOR
WEEREAS pursuant to a resolution authorizing the City Ioianaocr to
advertise :Tor bids for certain Surgical and Obstetrical Lights and Sterilizing
equipment for use in Riverside Hospital, bids were received from 1merican
Sterilizer Company of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Ohio Chemical �, Surgical Equipment
Company of i•;adison, I'lisconsin; and
WHEREAS the bid of Ohio Chemical £, Surgical Equipment Company contained
no breakdown of price quotations by item for the purpose of additiona and
deletions as required by the specifications and bid forms and said bid is there-
fore insufficient for the purpose of additions and deletions; and
i'1HEREAS the bid of American Sterilizer Company complied with the bid
requirements in that it contained a breakdown of prices per item for purposes
of additions and deletions; and
WHEREAS the Paducah idunicipal Hospital Commission has -recorr_mended the
acceptance of the bid of American Sterilizer Company with certain deletions so
as to reduce said bid to ;}22,525.00 and it appea ring also that said bid is the
lowest responsible bid;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COi24ISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KEA?TUCKY:
SECTIO111 1. That the bid of American Sterilizer Company of Erie,
Pennsylvania, for sale and installation of Surgical and Obstetrical Lights and
Sterilizing Equipment in Riverside Hospital Addition as heretofore advertised
and as indicated on the drawings and specifications therefor be, and the same
is hereby, accepted as the lowest responsible bid for said installed equipment,
except however, said total materials and installation shall be reduced by
deleting therefrom the following items as specified in said bid:
Item 8 - One 15 gallon water sterilizer
Item 10 - One 10 if
Item 12 - One 15 it
Item 13 - One Utensil sterilizer
The original amount of said bid for Sterilizing Equipment being {'26,zF60.00 shall
be reduced by the above deletions in the amount of $7,507.00 making the new bid
;18,953.00, which together with said Companyts bid on said lighting equipment of
;63,572.00 makes a net bid of ,;'22,525.00; and it is this net bid of x'22,525.00
which is hereby accepted as the lowest responsible bid. The equipment, materials
and labor shall be in accordance with the Equipment Specifications which was
the basis for bidding, and all terms and conditions thereof shall be cpmplied

with by said American Sterilizer Company. Said bidder shall comply with all
laws, ordinances and regulations in the performance of said work. Said bidder
shall place said equipment as provided for in the blue prints and drawings
applicable thereto as heretofore prepared by T. J. Nolan & Sons, Architects,
of Louisville, Kentucky.
SECTION 2. That I-Iayor Robert C. Cherry is hereby authorized and
directed for the City of Paducah to contract with said company for said equipment;
that the contract shall incorporate all the terms and conditions of said bid
and the specifications on which bids for said equipment was based; and such other
terms and conditions as the Corporation Counsel may believe to be to the best
interest of the City; that the contract price shall be ¢22,525.00 and the City
of Paducah shall not be obligated until said contract has been duly executed.
SECTION 3. The cost of said equipment shall be assessed to the
Riverside Hospital Building Fund and payable therefrom upon completion of said
installation.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular meeting
of the Board of Commissioners and remain on file for public inspection for at
least one (1) week in its completed form in which it shall be put upon its final
passage, but because of the urgent need of said equipment to aid in completion
of the Hospital Addition and the health and welfare requiring immediate commence-
ment of said work, an emergency is hereby declared and this ordinance shall be
in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
