THE CITY OF PADUCAH; AND PROVIDING FOR THE APPORTIOINH N'P OF SAID ANTICIPATED
REVENUE FOR SUCH PURPOSES
WHEP,EAS, under an ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners on ",.Iay
31, 1950, a license tax has been levied against all persons employed by others in
the Cit of Paducah and it is anticipated that the sum of

able from that soumce for payment of general governmental expense in the year
1950; and
j KFEREAS, the City Treasurer has reported tiat there will be collected
in license taxes levied against persons for the privilege of operating automobile:
and motor vehicles the sum of at least 54,130 more than was anticipated during
the year 1950; and
WHEREAS, it is provided under IMS 89.640 that the annual appropriation
ordinance may be amended at any time within the year by the apportionment of
available revenues which have not been included in the annual budget; and
17HEREAS, as the result of the emergency which arose by reason of the
threat of a flood in the spring of 1950, it became necessary to expend for the
operation of the flood protective works the sum of .;5000 in addition to the
amount ,opropriated for that purpose, and X5000 of the funds appropriated for
use in the Street Division were expended in said floodti°rall operation; and
VIHEREAS, in keeping with the board's declaration of policy said antici-
pated revenue wrill be used to pay the additional expense which is to be incurred
for the collection of the aforesaid license taxes, and for the maintenance and
operation of the Paducah Floodwall and the facilities provided to prevent the in-
undation of the City of Paducah by the rising of the Ohio River and its tribu-
taries.
NOW, `HEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY `HE BOARD OF CO?dI.iISSIONERS OF `iHE
CITZ OF PADUCAH, IM UCIM
SECTION 1. That the total sum of ,f38,505 is anticipated from the
collection of license taxes levied against persons employed by others and from
the collection of licenses levied against porsons for the privilege of operating
automobiles and motor vehicles upon the streets of the City of Paducah, which sum
was not included in the annual budget but will be available for payment of the
current, general and incidental expenses of the city in the year 1950.
SECTION 2. That the sum of Y4,130 anticipated from the collection
of automibile and motor vehicle licenses during the year 1950 be, and the same
is hereby appropriated for the definite purposes and under the definite account
numbers, departments, offices and divisions of the city as follows;

SECTION 3. That :;34,375, the amount anticipated from the collection of
license taxes levied against persons employed by others, be and the same is hereby
appropriated for the definite purposes and under the definite account numbers,
departments, offices and divisions of the city as follows;

SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to cause to be
Published in the Sun -Democrat a notice of the introduction of this ordinance and
the proposal to appropriate for the purposes specified above the total sum of
$38,505 anticipated from the collection of the aforesaid taxes, said notice to be
published at least one (1) week before this ordinance shall be put upon its final
passage.
SEC TION S. This ordinance shall be introduced at a regular meeting of the
Board of Commissioners and remain on file for public inspection for two weelcs in
the completed form in which It shall be put upon its final passage, and said ordi-
nance shall be in full force and effect from and after i a option.
