BE IT ORDAINED BY TIIE BOARD OF COMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, IfENTUCkY:
SECTION 1. That Section 1 of an ordinance containing the title
quoted above, which was adopted on August 5, 1952, and amended on
January 30, 1953, be, and the same is hereby amended anal reordained
so that the said section as amended and reordained shall read as follows;
'SECTIO!1. The number and rank of members of the Police
Ddpartment of the City of Paducah and their monthly saZaries, provided
said salaries are not changed by any annual apportionment ordinarm
adopted hereafter, shall be as follows:

Provided, however, that any Policeman hereafter appointed, during
his first year of service shall receive a salary of "245 per month and
upon completion of a year of satisfactory service as determined by
the City Manager on recommendation of the Police Chief, his monthly
salary shall be increased to ;;255 for the 2nd year of service, and
upon completion of a 2nd Uear o,f'satisfactory service as determined
by the CitU F,anager on a, recommendation of the Police Chief, his monthly
salary shall be increased to the sum of ..126.5. Provided further that
in the case of policemen preseritly appointed and, employed in the Police
Departr;ent the salary of such policeman during their first year of
service shall be ''255 per month, and upon completion of this first
year of satisfactory service as determined by the City Nanager on
recomwtendation of the Police Chief, said salary shall be increased to
2G5 per month. .'hat those policew-en presently appointed and employed
in the police department for a period of more than one (1) year from

the date of their appointment shall receive a salary of ;265 per month".
SECTIOIC 2. The rates of pay provided for in Section 1 hereof
shall be retroactively effective as of the first day of January, 1953,
and any expense incurred as a result of said raises shall be considered
a current departmental expense of the police department and shall be
provided for as such in the 1953 Apportionment Ordinance when adopted.
SBCTIOA'3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SRCTIOW Q. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
