That Section l of an ordinance containing the title quoted above, which was adopted on August 5, 1952, and amended on September 9, 1952, be, and the same is hereby amended and reordained ao that said section as amended and reordained shall read as follows: "SECTION 1. The number and rank of members of the Police Department of the City of Paducah and their monthly salaries, provided said salaries are not changed by any annual apportionment ordinance adopted hereafter, shall be as follows: Position AUmber of Positions Iionthly Salary Chief of Police 1 ;400 Assistant Chief of Police 1 N325 Chief Detective 1 1310 Police Captain 5 1300 Detective Lieutenant 1 y285 Police Lieutenant 4 0285 Sergeant 3 ;'272 Detective 2 P-272 Jailer 1 ;272 Policeman 41 ;265 Provided, however, that anew member of this department, during his first year of service shall receive a salary of ;x245 per month and upon completion of a year of satisfactory service as determined by the City Manager on recommendation of the Police Chief, his monthly salary shall be increased to p255 for the 2nd year of service, and upon completion of a 2nd year of satisfactory service as determined by the City Manager on recommendation of the Police Chief, his monthly salary shall be increased to the sum of -;;265. " SEDTION 2. The rates of pay provided for in Section 1 as herein amended shall be retroactively effective as of January 1, 1953 and any increases shall be considered as current departmental expenses and all said salaries shall be payable as current departmental expenses and charged to the approphtatton for salaries to the Police Department account to be provided for on the adoption of the annual apportionment ordinance. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be retroactively effective on and after January 1, 1953. �"� !
