SECTION 1. That Section 1 of an ordinance containing the title
quoted above, which was adopted on December 11, 1951, and amended on
August 26, 1952, be, and the same is hereby amended and reordained so
that said section as amended and reordained shall read as follows:
"SECTION Z. The number and rank of members of the Fire Department
of the City of Paducah and their monthly salaries, provided said
salaries are not changed by any annual apportionment ordinance adopted
hereafter, shall be as follows:

Provided, however, that a new member of this department, during his
first year of service shall receive a salary of .;x245 per month and upon
completion of a year of satisfactory service as determined by the City
Manager on recommendation of the Fire Chief, his monthly salary shall
be increased to -255 for the 2nd year of service, and upon completion
of a 2nd year of satisfactory service as determined by the City Zanager
on recommendation of the Fire Chief, his monthly salary shall be
increased to the sum of -265."
SECTION 2. The rates of pay provided for in S'ct•ion 1 as herein amended
shall be retroactively effective as of January Z, 1953 and any increases
shall be considered as current departmental expenses and all said salaries
shall be payable as current departmental expenses and charged to the
appropriation for salaries to the Fire Department account to be provided
for on the adoption of the annual apportionment ordinance.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be retroactively effective on and
after January 1, 1953. yylf::2��
