HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 12, Page 1015, No Ordinance NumberA' • END AN ORDIIJANCE CREATING AND DEFINING A SANITARY DIVISION FOR TFIE CITY OF PADUCAH, CREATING POSITIONS AND SALARIES FOR EMPLOYEES IN SAID DIVISION; PROVIDING SAID POSITIONS SHALL NOT BE UNDER CIVIL SERVICF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF C01! ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That there is hereby created for the City of Paducah a Sanitary Division which shall be charged with the responsibility and duty of collecting refuse and such other necessary functions in order to effectively carry out the provisions and purposes of an ordinance adopted by the City of Paducah on December 16, 1952, known by its short title as "Refuse Collection and Disposal Ordinance". That said division shall be under the supervision of the Director of Public Works who will be directly responsible to the City Manager for the proper function of this Sanitary Division. SECTION 2. That in order to perform the duties of refuse collection and disposal as defined in the "Refuse Collection and Disposal Ordinance" there is hereby created the following number of positions of employement at 1015 3 aYsz 12 -- the Z the rate of pay specified: �✓ Va ' Number of Postions Position Designation Rate of Pay iys3 I ForemanF`�i� j255 per Month 1 Oquip. Operator 1.40 per Hour ®� 6 Truck Drivers 11.231per Hour 20 Collectors ,pl.17z per Hour The hourly wages herein provided are for a regular work week of 44 hours and wages shall be paid on a straight time basis up to and including said 44 hours. The salaries of persons appointed to said positions shall be / v paid at the same time and in the same manner as the salaries of other city employees are paid. SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to employ and train suitable and qualified persons to fill the positions specificed in Section 2. Persons employed under the provisions of this ordinance shall acquire no rights under civil service, said employment and the positions here- under are specifically exempt from civil service. Appointees may be removed and discharged at any time by the City Manager with or without cause and said employment may be terminated by the amendment or repeal ofthis ordinance. In filling said positions the City Manager shall duly advertise for applications and will employ the persons whom he, the City Manager, believes are best qualified to fill said positions. SECTION 4. The salaries for the payment of persons employed hereunder shall be paid from Account Number 6550 or from other funds to be appropriated for that purpose and the payment of said salaries shall be considered,a current departmental expense of the City of Paducah. 1016 SECTION 5. The .provisions of this ordinance are separable. If any provision, section, paragraph, sentence or part thereof, shall be held unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not affect or impair the remainder of this ordinance, it being the legislative intent to ordain and enact each provision, paragraph, sentence and part thereof separately and independentl; of each other. SECTION 6. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION 7.
