A RESOLUTION REQUESTING TIIE STATE IIIGITNAY DEPARTB`ENT TO
;.TAKE CERTAIN IMPROVEiJENTS ON PARK AVENUE BETNEEN 17TH AND 28TH
STREETS.
WHEREAS, Park Avenue is a State and Federal highway from
17th Street to the city limits and the State Iii;hway Department has
assumed responsibility for construction and maintenance of said
highway; and
WHEREAS, the volume of traffic moving through the city along
this highway has increased tremendously; and
VIHEREAS, Park Avenue from 17th Street to the entrance to
Noble park at 28th Street is the main route used by automobiles
going to _Moble Park and such traffic in addition to the high volume
of highway traffic has created Creat traffic congestion between 17t1
and 28th Streets; and
,=REA3, a side:ialk is needed on the north side of Parti avenue
between 24th and 48th Streets to provide a safe means of access for
a large number of pedestriams .,oing to Noble Park who noir must walk
dangerously close to motor vehicle traffic along certain portions
of this highway;
NO'd, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKM
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah request the State Highwat
Department to underta'--tie the follow ine improvements on Park Avenye a�
the earliest nracticable time:
a. SJiden the pavement to a width of 42 feet from curb !o curb
from 17th street to the west property line of 28th street.)
b. Curb and gutter on the north side from 17th to 20th street:
c. Cnrb, -utter and,sidevial''Z on the north side from 24th to
27th streets, and sidewalk from 27th to 28th Streets.
d. Curb and gutter on the south side from 22nd to 28th street
SECTION 2. That the City I,anager transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Honorable John Keck, Commissioner of Highways
of the Common,:,ealth of Kentucky.
