ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE CREAT -11G A BOARD TO BE XNOWN AS THE
'CONI I3SIONERS OF WATER 'NORKS' TO BE COMPOSED OF THREE ma"'BERS
WHO SHALL SERVE '9ITHOUT CCMPENSATION TO SUCCEED THE MEMBERS
NOW SERVING AS SUCH CO18TISSIONERS AND PPESCRIBING THEIR
QUALIFICATIONS, TERMS OF OFFICE, POWER AND DUTIES", WHICH WAS
ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON AUGUST 6, 1946 AND
ATTENDED ON JANUARY 25, 1949
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COM,11ISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That Sections 1 and 2 of an ordinance containing the
title quoted above, which ordinance was adopted by the Board of
Commissioners on August 6, 194=8 and amended on January 25, 1949,
be, and the same are hereby repealed, amended and re -ordained
so that said sections as amended and re -ordained shall read as
11 follows:
� "Section 1. There is hereby created a board to be styled
'Commissioners of Water Yorks' composed of three (3) members to be
appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of
Commissioners. They shall be residents and legal voters of the
City of Paducah, and shall serve for indefinite terms subject to
removal by the Board of Commissioners for cause.
In order that said commission may be nonpartisian and non-
political, no person shall be appointed a member to succeed'those
persons now serving who is related within the third degree to the
Mayor or any member of the legislative body of the city. The
Commissioners now in office and those who will hereafter be appoin
shall not appoint to any subordinate office or position of employ-
ment created by them any person who is related to any member of th
legislative body or to the mayor or chief executives of the city,
or to any member of the commission. If at any time during his ter)
of office any member of the commission becomes a candidate for any
public office, he shall automatically vacate his office on the
commission and another person shall be appointed."

"Section 2. The members of the Commissioners of Water
Works shall serve without Compensation. Each of said Commissioner
shall executo a bond in the sum of :;;5,000.00 for the faithful
performance of his duty, the premium on said bond to be paid
as other operating expenses of the ',Nater ;'forks are paid. Two
members of the board shall constitute a quorum for the trans-
action of business."
