AMENDED ON JULY 15, 1947
11HEREAS, the members of the various boards and commissions
of the City of Paducah receive nothing for their services, with
the exception of the members of the City of Paducah Punicipal
Housing Commission and the Civil Service Commission who, as require
by law are paid a salary and receive the sum of only Five (.;5.00)
Dollars per year for their services; and
^lIIEREAS, the payment of a salary of lWenty-five (;,25.00) Dolls.

71HEREAS, it is also deemed advisable to provide for the
appointment of members of the Commissioners of .'ater 1.orks to serve
for a specified term;

OF THE CITY OFPADUCA', YENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That Sections 1 and 2 of an ordinance containing the title
quoted above, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on
August 6, 1946 and ame ded on July 15, 1947, be and the same are
hereby repealed, amended and re -ordained so that said sections as
amended and re -ordained shall read as follows:
"Section I. There is hereby created a board to be styled
"Commissioners of !later Works " composed of three (3) members to be
appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of
Commissioners. They shall be residents and legal voters of the
City of Paducah, and shall be appointed for terms of four (4)
years beginning July 1, 1949, and the members now serving shall
continue in office until that date.
In order that said commission may be nonpartisan and non-
political, no person shall be appointed a member to succeed those
persons now serving who is related within the third degree to the tr:a
or any member of the legislative body of the city. The Commissioner
now in office and those who will hereafter be appointed shall not

appoint to any subordinate office or position of employment created
by them any person who is related to any member of the legislative
body or to the mayor or chief executives of the city, or to any
member of the commission. If at any time during his term of office
any member of the commission becomes a candidate for any public
office, he shall automatically vacate his office on the commission

"Section 2. The members of the Commissioners of 'eater
77orks who shall be appointed for terms of four ( 4) ,years beginning
July 1, 1949 shall serve without compensation. Each of said
Commissioners shall execute a bond in the sum of :5,000.00 for
the faithful performance of his duty, the premium on said bond
to be paid as other operating expenses of the :'dater ',"orks are paid.
Two members of the board shall constitute a quorum for the trans-
action of business."
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect on and
after July 1, 1949.
