A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF 200 to 250 USED PARKING METERS, PRESCRIBI
THE TERhIS AND CONDITIONS OF THE CONTRACT WHICH THE SUCCESSFUL BIDD
WILL BE REQUIRED TO EXECUTE, PROVIDING FOR THE EXECUTION OF A PER-
FORMANCE BOND BY THE SUCCESSFUL BIDDER, AND PRESCRIBING THE MANNER
IN WHICH SAID BIDS SHALL BE SUBMITTED
BE IT RESOLVED Bf THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized and
empowered to advertise for bids for the purchase of 200 to 250 uses
parking meters to be installed in the business district and on the
streets and in the blocks to be hereafter designated by the Board
of Commissioners; and said meters shall not have been in use for a
period longer than two (2) years. Bidders shall submit in writing
their offers stating the purchase price for each meter which shall
be so operated as to permit legal parking for a period of twelve (]
minutes for each 1¢ deposited, one (1) hour for each 5X deposited,
and each meter shall be so constructed as to allow a total legal
parking time of two (2) hours. Each bid shall state the trade name
of the parking meters, the name of the city where the meters were
installed, the age and model of the meters, the extent and nature
of any guarantee that will be given, and any other information
indicating the operating condition of the meters. Each bidder
shall also state his charge for installing the meters without expen
to the city. One-half of the receipts from the operation of said
meters shall be paid to the successful bidder until the entire pur-
chase price for all meters has been paid; provided, however, it
shall be understood and agreed that the city shall retain for the
purpose of defraying the cost of maintenance and repair work, the
sum of 25X per month for each meter.
SECTION 2.
Each bidder shall state in his bid that he is willing to
execute and deliver to the City of Paducah a bond in the penal sum
of $2000.00 for installation of the meters not later than July 1,
1948, provided the contract is let by the Board of Commissioners
not later than June 1, 1948, said bond to be in substance satis-
factory to the City Manager and in the form which will be approved
by the attorney for the city.
SEC TION 3.
The City Manager shall advertise for the purchase and in-

stallation of said meters by posting up a notice at the City Hall
door and by inserting a notice of the request for bids in at least
one (1) issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and
published for at least seven (7) days prior to the opening of bids
and the bids shall not be opened within ten (10) days from the date
on which this resolution is adopted. No bids shall be received
after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All
bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the not
for the opening of bids shall be filed with the Board of Commissi
ers who may let.the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. I
right to reject any and all bids is reserved and the City of Pad
shall not become legally obligated to purchase said metdrs until
the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a cont
