HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 11, Page 499, No Ordinance Number499 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE LICENSING OF BUILDING TRADES BY ADDING SECTION 31A TO AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND REGULATING THE LICENSE TAXES, AND MANNER AND FORM OF GRANTING AND ISSUING SAME ON THE VARIOUS LINES OF BUSINESS, TRADES, OCCUPATIONS, PROFESSIONS, VOCATIONS AND CALLINGS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR NON-PAYMENT THEREOF, AND FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO ENGAGE IN ANY SUCH LINES OF BUSINESS, TRADES, OCCUPATIONS, PROFESSIONS, VOCATIONS AND CALLINGS WITHOUT FIRST PAYING THE LICENSE TAX AND PROCURING LICENSES AS PROVIDED HEREIN; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, AND PROVIDING A SEPARABILITY CLAUSE", WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF CO&4.7ISSIONERS ON DECEMBER 23, 1947 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 31A be added to the ordinance entitled as quoted in the title of this ordinance, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on December 23, 1947, and which section 31A shall .read as follows: SECTION 31A. Building trades. Any person working independ- ently in erecting, constructing, altering, wrecking, razing, moving painting, improving, or repairing any building or structure or in carrying on any construction project who is paid on an hourly, daily or other time period basis shall not be considered a contrac- D of Section for and shall pay a license tax under Schedule/83, provided, howeve: that any such person who does not, at any time during the license year, perform a job costing more than $300 shall not be required to pay a license tax. The Building Inspector shall not issue a build- ing permit for a job costing more than $300 to such a person unless he has first paid the license tax due under this section. SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed. SECTION 3.
