AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED:
"AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE BUILDING CODE RECOMMENDED BY THE
NATIONAL'BOARD OF FIRE UNDERWRITERS, EXCEPT CERTAIN CLAUSES AND
SECTIONS THEREOF WHICH ARE HEREBY EXPRESSLY ELIMINATED, AND ALSO
ADOPTING THE STANDARDS OF SAFETY APPROVED BY THE DIVISION OF INSURA
FIRE PREVENTION AND RATES SECTION OF THE STATE OF KENTUCKY; PR)VIDI
FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A BUILDING INSPECTOR TO ADMINISTER AND ENFOR
THE PROVISIONS OF THE BUILDING CODE AND THE STANDARDS OF SAFETY;
FIXING THE FEES TO BE CHARGED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR BUILDING
AND WRECKING PERMITS; FIXING AND PRESCRIBING THE QUALIFICATIONS OF
THE BUILDING INSPECTOR, HIS COMPENSATION, POWERS AND DUTIES; PRO-
VIDING A SEPARABILITY CLAUSE AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT THERENITH; AND FIXING THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF",
WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON SEPTE14BER 24th,
1946 AND AMENDED ON FEBRUARY 25, 1947.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That Section 7 of an ordinance con'tain'ing the title
quoted above, which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners
on September 24th, 1946, and amended on February 25, 1947, be
and the same is hereby amended so that said section as amended
shall read as follows:
"Section 7. A Building Inspector shall be appointed
by the City Manager to administer and enforce the provisions
of, the Building Code and the Standards of Safety, as well as
all laws and ordinances of the City of Paducah relating to the
sam a subject matter. He shall be generally informed on the
quality and strength of building materials, on the prevailing
methods of building construction, on good practice in fire
prevention, and on the accepted requirements for safe exit
facilities. He shall be in good health, physically capable of
making the necessary examinations and inspections of buildings
in course of construction. He shall not have any interest whatever
directly or indirectly, in the sale or manufacture of any material,
process or device entering into or used in or in connection with
building construction.
The Building Inspector shall be a member of the Engineering
Department and all of his work shall be done under the supervision
and control of the City Engineer.
In the event of the Building Inspectorts absence from the
city or his inability to serve, the City Manager shall designate
and appoint another employee of the city to act as Assistant

Building Inspector during his absence or disability, and the
Assistant Building Inspector in such event shall have the
same powers and perform the same duties as the Building Inspector.'
SEC TION 2.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
