HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 11, Page 484, No Resolution Number484/1 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THREE (3) NEW 1-1/2 TON MOTOR TRUCKS FOR USE IN THE STREET DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UNDER YJHICH BIDS SHALL BE SUBMITTED BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City 1.1anager be, and he is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah of three (3) new 1-1/2 ton motor trucks, each truck to be complete with a cab and a body of 2-1/2 yards capacity. Each truck shall be equipped with a water levol hydraulic hoist dump mechanism containing a six inch cylinder and each body shall be constructed to allow for extension to increase capacity. The wheel base of each truck shall be proper length to distribute the loan on the chassis, and each truck shall be equipped with bud disc wheels and 700x20 102ply tires. Each bidder shall submit alternative offers, one offer being the amount which would be acceptable in payment of the full amount of the purchase price in cash, and the other being the amount to be paid by the C ity by accepting as trade-ins the three trucks owned by the city and identified by the following numbers; Motor numbers 31842, 33255 and 48094 or license numbers T6704, T6715 and T6717. Each bidder shall also state in his bid the date on which he agrees to deliver said new trucks and that he is willing to execute and deliver to the city a bond in the sum of µ2000.00 to guarantee delivery on or before the date specified in his bid. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted up at the city hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in at least one issue of the Sun -Democrat. The notice shall be posted and published at least seven days prior to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten days from the date on which this resohtion is adopted. No bid shall be received unless under seal, nor shall any bid be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the city shall not become legally obligated to purchase said trucks until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract. 485 SECTION 3.
