BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUIZISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That Section 1 of an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDI}MINCE CREATING
THE rEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING, AND PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTir`_ENT OF
A DIRECTOR THEREOF, AND IF NECESSARY EMPLOYEES THEREIN", which was
adopted by the Board of Commissioners on January 6, 1936, and was
amended by the Board of Commissioners on June 24, 1941, be and the
same is hereby amended so that said ordinance as now amended shall
read as follows:
SECTIOIi 1. Taat there is hereby created, upon the recommenda-
tion of the City icanager, a department to be krown as the Departmen t
of Engineering, and there shall be a director of said department whl y 5
shall be styled City Engineer, whose salary shall be at the rate of

;;237.50 per month, together with the further sum of 1:25.00 per mondI
as an allowance forthe use of his automobile in connection with the
performance of his duties. The City Engineer shall perform such duiyies
as maj be required by law and by the City i•:anager, and by such ordi-
nances as may be adopted from time to time, and shall have complete
control and management of all of the engineering and construction
work within the City of Paducah. The City Engineer as Supervisor
of Public P;orks of the City of raducah, shall also serve as an ex -
officio member of the City Planning and Coning Commission, and he
shall perform all of the duties which the supervisor of Fublic .:oral
is reo_uired to perform uncle- Section 3RS 100.330.
There is also hereby created in the Engineering repartment
a rosition to be known as Floodwall Superintendent. The person appiinted
to this position shall be responsible for the efficient operation, main-
tenance and continuous inspection of the floodwall projects, and all
operations necessary to safe guard the City of Paducah and its inhal-
itants against loss by flood. The Floodwall Superintendent shall bd
respomsible to the City Engineer and the City I&anager for the propel
conduct of his duties. He shall receive a salary of ,.225.00 per moth
beginning on January 16, 1948, said salary to be paid to him at tte
same time and in the same manner as all other city employees are pad.
There shall also be appointed such employees in the department
of engineering as may from time to time be necessary, and the prese t
rates of pay existing at the time of the adoption of this ordinancelshall
continue until further changed by ordinance. Said City Engineer a
employees in said department shall be appointed as provided by law
SEC TION 2.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption.
