A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS OF CONTRACTORS FOR THE FURNISHING OF MATERIALS AND THE PER-
FORMANCE OF LABOR TO COMPLETE THE TOILET ROOMS AND SINKS AT THE
PADUCAH MARKET HOUSE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR S
WORK ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY ENGINEER
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SEC TION 1.
That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to adver,
tine for bids of contractors to do all of the work and furnish all
of the materials, tools and appliances necessary or proper for
performing and completing the toilet rooms and sinks at the Paduca
Market House in accordance with the contract for said work and the
plans and specifications prepared by T.A.Bradley, the City Engineer
which contract, plans and specifications are on file in said En H~
ineerls office at the City Hall in Paducah, Kentucky. Each bidder
shall accompany his bid with a certified check for $100.00 payable
to the City Treasurer. In the event the contractor whose bid is
accepted shall fail or refuse to execute said contract within a
period of ten days after the acceptance thereof, said sum shall be
forfeited and may be retained by the City as liquidated damages.
SEC TION 2.
Before advertising for the aforesaid bids, the City Manager shall
ascertain the prevailing rates of wages of laborers, workmen, mechan-
ics, helpers, assistants and apprentices for the work to be done,
and the schedule shall be attached to and made a part of the spec-
ifications to be prepared by the City Engineer. Such schedule shall
also be included in the bids submitted by contractors and made a part
of any contract which may be entered into between the city and the
contractor after bids shall have been submitted.
SECTION 3.
The City Manager shall advertise for the aforesaid bids by
posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of
the request for bids in at least one issue of the Sun -Democrat.
The notice shall be posted and published at least seven days prior
to the opening of bids and no bid shall be opened within ten days
from the date of the adoption of this resolution. No bid shall be
received unless it is under seal, nor shall any bid be received aft
the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of bids. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice
shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let the
contracts to the lowest and best responsible bidder. The board of
Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject and and all bids

and the city shall not become legally obligated under a contract fdr
the aforesaid installation of toilet and plumbing facilities until
the adoption of the ordinance authorizing the execution of the
contract.
SECTION 4.
This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption.
