VITEREAS, under an ordinance adopted on August 12, 1947,
the :oard of Commissioners ordered that an election be held by the
qualified voters of the City of Paducah on the regular election day
November 4, 1947, to determine the question of whether the City
of Paducah should issue and sell bonds in the amount of not ex-
ceeding :.50,000.00 for the purpose of providing funds to defray
the cost of makin0 a survey or appraisal of all real and personal
property subject to local taxation for use by the City Assessor
and the Loard of Equalization when valuin,, said property for
taxation purposes and equalizing the assessments thereon; and,
:'liIEREAS, the City i,:anager having reported to the Board
of Commissioners that at a meeting of a numbar of real estate agenb
and contractors on October 2, 1947, it was proposed that the work
of malcin;° said appraisal be done by those present at said meeting,
as well as other real estate dealers and contractors interested in
the welfare of the City of Iaducah; that the total cost of making
a survey and appraisal by local real estate agents and contractors
would be considerably less than the amount ':jhich the City would be
required to incur by having the appraisal made by employing
engineers as contemplated under the provisions of the aforesaid
ordinance; and that those present at said meeting had indicated
their willinm esa to serve as appraisers if furnished with records
which would enable then to do the work with as little trouble
as possible; and,
171MEAS, at a called meeting of the Soard of
Commissioners on October 4, 1947, it was decided that the
recommendation of said real estate agents and contractors
should be accented and the city should proceed with the making
of said a;:praisal without employing engineers as contemplated
under the provisions of said ordinance and that said ordinance
should be repealed; and,
:'ii-?EREAS, at said meeting, on October 4, 1947, the
aforesaid ordinance was repealed and the City of Paducah is now
in a position to proceed with the making of Jaid appraisal as
recommended;
