A RESOLUTION REQUESTING STROTHER E. MELTON, STATE
SENATOR, AND CHARLES W. BURNLEY AND ROY COPELAND, STATE
' REPRESENTATIVES FROM MCCRACKEN COUNTY TO INTRODUCE AM URGE
THE IA SSAGE IN Me SENATE AND LEGISLA_URE OF CERTAIN BILLS IN
WHICH THE CITY OF PADUCAH IS ESPECIALL INTERESTED
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMERS OF `UE BOARD OF
COI.11.1I33IONERS OF PADUCAII, KENTUCKY:
S EC TI OT1 1.
That Strother E. L:elton, State Senator, and
Charles W. Burnley and R,:y Copeland, State Representatives from
McCracken County, Kentucky be urged to introduce and secure
the passage in the 1944 Session of the Legislature the following
enactments:
(1) An Act amending Section 96, 580 of the Kentuckty
Revised Statutes relating to the procedure to be followdd by a
city and an electruc cower company for appraisal of the company's
properties when they are unable to agree upon a price after

i' acquisition proceedings have been :initiated, the amendment to
contain the clause "In the event two of the three members cannot
agree within six months after the appointment of the first two
i
members, the entire first board, unless Eiven further time by
agreement in writing entered into between the board and the owner,
shall bo discharged, and a second board shall be immediately
II appointed as provided herein unless the board shall then notify
ii the owner in writing of its intention to abandon the proceedings

Ij instituted by it", in lieu of the clause "In the event two of the

be discharged, and a second board, if desired by both the board
and the owner, may be appointed as provided herein."
y (2) An Act to authorize all cities and counties to
purchase, establish, erect and maintain any public utility
I
system, including a gas plant and a garbage disposal system,
liand providing that such system or systems may be financed by the
issuing of revenue bonds.

I� (3) An Act relating to the abatement of nuisances
I�
caused by the growing of weeds upon private property and
I;
providing that sudh nuisances may be abated at the cost of the
j owners of the property; and,

(4) An Act amending Section 92,280 of the Kentucky
Revised Statutes in order that poll taxes may be levied and
collected at the same time ad valorem taxes are levied and is
collected.
(5) An Act to amend Section 92,430 of the Kentucky
Revised Statutes in order to permit city assessors to make personal
calls at the residences of taxpayers for the purpose of obta:inin;
a true list of all personal property subject to taxation.
SECTION II
This Resolution shall be in full force and effect .from
and after its adoption.
