A RESOLUTION AUT[IORIZING THE CORPORATION COUNSEL OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH TO APPEAR BEFORE THE LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE OF THE
KENTUCKY MUNICIPAL LEAGUE AND URGE SAID COMMITTEE TO INCLUDE IN
ITS LEGISLATIVE PROGRAM FOR THE YEAR 1944 CERTAIN BILLS IN WHICH
THE CITY OF PADUCAH IS ESPECIALLY INTERESTED

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF HIE CITY

SECTION 1.
That the Corporation Counsel be authorized to appear j
i
before the Legislative Committee of the Kentucky Idunicipal League
and urge said committee to include in its legislative program
I
for 1944 tIe following proposals for consideration by the state
I
legislature: -
(1) An Act amending Section 96,580 of the Kentucky
Revised Statutes relating to the procedure to be followed by a
city and an electric power company for appraisal of the company's
properties when they are unable to agree upon a price after
f
acquisition proceedings have been initiated, the amendment to
i
contain the clause "In the event two of the three members cannot
i
agree within six months after the appointment of the first two
members, the entire first board, unless given further time by
agreement in writing entered into between the board and the owner,
shall be discharged, and a second board shall be immediately
appointed as provided herein unless the board shall then notify
the owner in writing of its intention to abandon the proceedings
a,
instituted by it", in lieu of the clause "In the event two of thei
three members cannot agree within six months after the appointment]

further time by agreement between the board and the owner, shall
be discharged, and a second board, if desired by both the board and
the owner, may be appointed as provided herein."
(2) An Act to authorize all cities and counties to
purchase, establish, erect and maintain any public utility system,
including a ,as plant and a garbage disposal system, and providing
that such system or systems may be finances by the issuing of
revenue bonds.
(3:) An Act relating to the abatement of nuisances caused
by the ā€˛rowing of weeds upon private property and providinu that'
such nuisances may be abated at the cost of the owners of the
property; and,

(4) An Act amendinf, Section 92,280 of the Kentucky Revised
Statutes in order that poll taxes may be levied and collected
at the -same time ad valorem taxes are levied and collected.
SECTION 2.
This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
