AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE BID OF
THE UNITED STATES HHBBER COMPANY, THROUGH ITS EUREKA FIRE HOSE
DIVISION, FOR THE PURCHASE OF 2500 feet of fire hose without
COUPLINGS FOR THE SUM OF $2499.00 TO BE PAID IN CASH, PRESCRIBING
THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH SAID BID IS ACCEPTED, AND
AUTHORIZING JAMES P. SMITH, THE CITY MANAGER, TO EXECUTE FOR THE
CITY OF PADUCAH A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAID HOSE
WHEREAS, under and pursuant to a motion adopted by the
Board of Commissioners at a regular meeting held on October 27th, 1942,
the City of Paducah agreed to accept the proposal of the United
States Rubber Company, through its Eureka Fire Hose Division, for
the same of 2500 feet of 2z inch Ylultex 2 ply Multiple Woven fire
hose at the price of X1.10 per foot, with a reduction of 8¢ per foot
if couplings are furnished by the city and discount of 20 for cash
paid within ten days after delivery; and,
WHEREAS, the aforesaid proposal also contained certain',
other terms, conditions and guarUntys which are re£erred,to and made
a part of this ordinance to the same extent as if fully copied
herein: -
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, ItENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That the sum of $2499.00 be appropriated by the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, for the purchase of fire hose and that the City
of Paducah accept the aforesaid bid of the United States Rubber
Company through its Eureka Fire Hose Division, and the City
Manager is hereby authorized and empowered, for and on behalf of
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, to sign a purchase order which
reads as follows:
"The undersigned, having full authority for purchasing,
hereby accepts the above proposal and authorized shipment
of 2500 feet of 22 inch Multex 2 ply Multiple Woven Brand
Fire Hose at $1.10 per foot, less reduction of 8� per foot
for couplings furnished by city. If hose is found not in
accordance with above specifications, the purchaser
hereby agrees to notify EUREKA FIRE HM E division of
United States Rubber Company within 30 days from date of
delivery of said hose to purchaser. If no notification
is received within the period stated above, it shall be
deemed and considered that said hose has been accepted:
and the purchaser thereupon agrees further to pay for
said hose to the EUREKA FIRE HOSE Division of the United
States Rubber Company the sum of Two thousand five hundred
and fifty dollars $2550.00. Terms of Pagment: 20 discount
if purchase price is paid within 60 days after delivery. -
Total contract $2499.00 with e� discount deducted."
SECTION 2.
It being necessary to immediately purchase fire hose in
order to protect the property of the City of Paducah and its

citizens against loss by fire, an emergency is hereby declared to
exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
