j A RESOLUTION UPON THE LIFE AND
j CHARACTER OF ED D. HANNAN
. BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Paducah that we deeply deplore the loss which the City of
Paducah has sustained by reason of the death of one of its
most useful, trustworthy and prominent citizens, Mr. Ed D.
Hannan.
Mr. Hannan was elected a councilman to serve during the
administration of Mayor James M. Lang from 1898 to 1902, and
served as an alderman from 1902 to 1908 during the administration
of Mayor D. A. Yeiser. He was president of the board of aldermen
during the administration of Mayor James P. Smith from 1908 to
1912, and was serving as Assistant City Manager at the time of his
death. Mr. Hannan was chiefly interested in the improvement of
living conditions and the beautification of the city. His interest
in such work was shown by his diligent and faithful se8yice as
chairman of the City Planning and Zoning Commission from 1924 to
the date of his death. For a period of 52 years Mr. Hannan gave
cheerfully of his time and energy to make the City of Paducah
a bett.�d place in which to live. As a citizen and also as husband,
father and friend, he will always be held in the highest of
esteem in the memory of the people of this community.
RESOLVED FURTHER that these resolutions be spread upon
the records of the City of Paducah and that a copy be furnished
to the newspaper and to the family.
