HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 10, Page 679, No Resolution Number679 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING HENRY WARD, STATE j I REPRESENTATIVE, AND STROTHER MELTON, STATE SENATOR, FOR THE SPECIAL ATTENTION GIVEN BY THEM TO THE PASSAGE OF BILLS I ESPECIALLY BENEFICIAL TO Cl'TIES OF THE SECOND CLASS WHEREAS, during the regular session of the State Legislature of 1942 the Board of Commissioners approved and caused to be transmitted to 74r. Henry lard, State Representative and Yr. Strother Irielton, State Senator, a number of Acts relating to cities of the second class; and, • i WHEREAS, through the efforts of Mr. Ward and Mr. Melton i five of the bills were passed in the House and in the Senate, I these Acts (1) providing for the acquisition and operation of I airports in cities and counties, (2) providin; for the appointment I of the members of the Board of Equalizers by the Board of Commissioners, (3) providing for the setting aside of two funds in whatever amount the Board of Commissioners may deem sufficient for the care and maintenance of public parks, one for use bf the white park board and the other for use by the colored park board, j (4)- giving to cities of the s econd class the ri;ht to appeal i to the Circuit Court and thence to the Court of Appeals from judgments rendered in the Quarterly Court on appeals from the action of the Board of Equalization; and (5) prescribing the manner of advertisi-n_- for bids for work contracted for or for the purchase of materials and supplies by cities of the second class; NOVI, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COLu::IESIONERS OF THE C ITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: i SECTION 1. That Representative Henry `Hard and Senator Strother i I �I I;elton be commended for their efforts which made possible the passage of the above bills and that the Board of Commissioners express to them the thanks of the City of Paducah for the I i special attention to legislative enactments especially bene- ficial to cities of the second class.
