j' SECTION 1.

That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized
I
and empowered to employ a Jailer to take charge of and guard all
prisoners committed to the city jail, and all orbsoners committed
to the city jail whether in compliance with any order of the City
Court or for the purpose of detention awaiting trial shall be in
charge of and under the supervision of the city Jailer, subject,
however, to the orders of the City Court.
SECTION 2.
In addition to the duties prescribed in the foregoing
Section, the City Jailer shall assist with the supervision and
feeding of the prisoners committed to the city jail and he shall
do such work in the maintenance of city property as may be requested
it by the City Manager.
SECTION 3.
The City Jailer shall not be a member of the police
department of the City of Paducah, nor subject to any of the Civil
Service rules and regulations governing cities d the second class.,
He shall not have power to make arrests or to perform any of the
duties of a regularly qualified policeman or patrolman, and he shall
not acquire any rank, position, grade, office or any ri-,ht of
seniority whatever on the official roster of said police department.

SECTION 4.
The person who shall be appointed as Jailer of the City
of Paducah shall be paid for his services the sum of b120.00 per
month, said salary to be paid to him at the same time and in the
same manner as other employees are paid.

SECTION 5.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.
SECTION 6.
This ordinance shall be in full force and eri'ect -rom and
after its adoption.
