TYAT VCHEREAS, under an ordinance adopted by the card
of Commissioners on October 14, 1941, the :,ayor and City Olerk
were authorized to enter into and execute a contract, lease and
option for the leasing to the city of Paducah, subject to the
terms and conditions contained therein, net: furnishin_s, fixtures,
X-ray equipment and hospital a_2 su.rlcal supplies to be used in
t>e new _ on to the :Riverside osoital at Paducah, Kentucky;

have refused to enter into contracts for the leasin; of said
hospital furnishings, :supplies and equipment to the City, and it
is necessary in order to furnish said 'hospital to enter into
contracts for the purchase of said furnishin-s and equipment,
the total cost of which amounts to 03,339.91, and,

7F-TEREAS, the City tanager and the City Treasurer have
reported to this board that by conservative estimates the cityof
Paducah w! 11 have a surplus amountin; to approximately 120,000.00
in the year 1941, thich fund has not been aypropriated for any
other purpose and is available and will be available for the
payment of the purchase price for said :Hospital furnishi:ios and
equipment, as well as such other emergency expenditures which may
be required to be incurred;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINLD BY ThE BOASD OF i

SECTIO, 1.
That the sum of 03,339.91 be appropriated for payment
of the purchase price for neer furnishings, fixtures and hospital
and sur,ical supplies and equipment to be used in the new addition
to the Riverside Hospital, the amount so appropriated to be chir•-ed
ala:i ns t the surplus in the year 1941, and that the City : ann ,or Vo
authorized to enter into contracts under which the city of Paducah.

All ord_nances and parts of o:,d_n�:nces in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTIOI, 3.
In order to provide adequate hospital facll— es for
the care and treatment of charity patients, and to t'.aereb promote
and protect the public health and safety of the citizens of the
City of Paducah, an emer-ency is hereby declared to exist and
this ordinance shall be in full force and effect !'r•om and after
its adoption.
