AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED:
"AN ORDINANCE CREATING A LEGAL DEPART,1ENT AND PROVIDING FOR THE
JAPPOINTIMEN.T OF A DIRECTOR THEREOF WHO SHALL BE STYLED CORPORATION
COUNSEL, AND FOR ME APPOINTMENT OF AN ASSISTANT COR20RATION CC
AND PRESCRIBING THEIR DUTIES; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN C
H'EREWITH," WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF C01311ISSIONERS ON THE
STH DAY OF JANUARY 1934, BY REPEALING, AMENDING, REVISING AND
RE -ORDAINING SECTION 1 THEREOF
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COI. 1I SSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTIO14 1.
That Section 1 of an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
CREATING A LEGAL DEPAR M ENT AND PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT
OF A DIRECTOR THEREOF WHO SHALL BE STYLED CORPORATION COUNSEL,
AND FOR THE APPOINTit'iENT OF AN ASSISTANT CORPORATION COUNSEL, AND
PRESCRIBING THEIR DUTIES; AND REPEALING RLL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH", be and the same is hereby amended and re -ordained so
that the same as so amended and re -ordained shall reas as follows:
"Section 1. There is hereby created and established a
!department to be known as the Legal Department of the City of
rPaducah. The director of said department shall be styled Corporatic
Counsel, who shall be in charge of said Legal Department.
II There shall also be appointed an Assistant Corporation Counsel.
Both the Corporation Counsel and the Assistant Corporation
Counsel shall be regularly admitted and practicing Attorneys -
at -Law.
"The Corporation Counsel shall appear for the City
hand attend all cases in the Circuit Court, the Court of Appeals
of Kentucky, and the Federal Courts, wherein the City of Paducah
Il may be a part complainant or defendant, or a party in interest;
Il and he shall give advice to any and all city officials, and v�hen
requested by the City Manager or by any member of the Board of
:Commissioners, he shall attend the meetings of the Board of
ICommissioners, and he shall supervise and prepare all contracts
to which the City may be a party.
"The Assistant Corporation Counsels hall appear for the
City in all cases in the Policd Court, and shall prosecute or
defend on behalf of the City all appeals froml:the decisions of
said Court, in which the City may be a party, or is in any way
interested. The Assistant Corporation Counsel shall not execute
bond for the faithful performance of his duties as he was heretoforE
required to do, not now being charged with the duty of colleEting

delinquent taxes.
"The City Manager is authorized to appoint a Corporation
Counsel and an Assistant Corporation Counsel, and to provide for
such clerical assistance in the performance of the duties of said
employees as may be fout;d to be necessary to the efficient handling
of said department".
SECTION 2.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.
SECTION 3.
`Phis ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
