AN ORDINANCE REgIFYING THE CONTRACT OF EMIPLOYMENT WITH G. TAMP
SMITH, JR., ARCHITECT, FOR PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FURNISHED BY HIM
TO THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW ADDITION TO IHE
RIVERSIDE HOSPITAL, AND AUTHORIZING ME EMPLOYMENT OF SAID ARCHITECT
TO OVERSEE THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID ADDITION.
THAT WHEREAS, under a motion adopted by the Board of Comm-
issioners on February 13, 1940, the City of Paducah accepted the
offer of G. Tandy Smith, Jr., Architect, to draft plans and
specifications for the construction of a new addition to the
Riverside Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky, and it was provided in
` said motion that if said addition was constructed he would receive
for his services a sum equal to 4% of the total cost of said

construction; and,
WHEREAS, through the sale of hospital revenue bonds, the City of
Paducah now has available sufficient funds to be gin :the construct-
ion of said addition, and there is now due and owing to said Architect
a sum equal to 4% of the total cost of said construction; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable to have said Architect super-
vise the work during construction, and he has agreed to render such
services for an addition fee in an mount equal to 1% of the total
cost of said construction;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That the aforesaid contract of employment with G. Tandy Smith,'
Jr., Architect, for the drafting of plans and specifications for
the construction of a new addition to the Riverside Hospital, be,
and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, and that he receive
for his services in the drafting of such plans and checking of
details a sum equal to 4% of the total cost of said construction,
the amount of the fees to be paid to him when the exact cost thereof
can be ascertained; and that the said G. Tandy Smith, Jr., be
employed to supervise the construction of said addition in accor-
dance with the plans and specifications prepared by him, amch
supervision to include the preparation of all estimates of materials
to be furnished by the City. The fee for such additional services
supervising the construction of said hospital and preparing said
estimates shall be an amount equal to 1% of the total cost of said
i construction. One-half of said additional fee of lj shall be paid
to said Architect when the work of construction is half completed,
and the remaining one-half of said additional gee of 1% shall be
paid to him upon the completion of said hospital and its acceptance
by the City.

SECTION 2.
Funds being available for the construction of said
hospital and it being necessary to immediately proceed with the
construction in order to provide as soon as possible adequate
hospital facilities for the care of charity patients, an emergency
is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full
force and effectfrom and after its adoption.
