SECTION 1.

That James P. Smith, City manager of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, be and he is hereby authorized and empowered to
I
ireceive bids of qualified public accountants for the preparation c
an audit of all accounts of the City of Paducah in the year 1940,
said audit to be prepared in compliance with all of the provisions
IIof Section3235dd-39 of the Kentucky Statutes. Each bid shall set
i
forth the amount which the bidder proposes to charge for an audit
consisting of the result of an examination of all accounts of city
officers and the entire financial condition of said city, and for
furnishing to said cit;, in pamphlet form five hundred (500) copies
Of said audit, one to be published in the official newspaper and
a copy to be available to each voter who may apply for same at the
office of the City Manager, and also for furnishing to said city
three copies of the transcript of the Auditors' work sheet, one
copy to be received by the Board of Commissioners as a perma%ent
record, one copy to be furnished the City 'Preasurer,-and the

other -copy to be furnished the City -ana er.
SECTION 2.
The City Nana;er is authorized and directed to advertise
for and accept all bids under seal, and which bids shall not be
opened until 10:00 o'clock A.'4 on the day set for receiving such
bids, or at such other hour as may be determined for the receivin-.
and opening of bids, and all of said sealed bids shall be filed
by the City Manager with his report and recommendation. 1•o bid
shall be received after the hour fixed for openin;, same. The City
Manager shall advertise in such manner as may be deemed advisable i
for the receipt of bids, and the opening of bids shall not occur

within ten (10) days from the date of such advertisement.
Each bid shall set forth the lowest amount which will be acceptabll
for preparing an audit in accordance with Section 1 of this
Resolution.
SECTION 3.
j
The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids,
and shall not become legally liable or obli-ated to employ an
auditor under the terms of this Hesolution until the acceptance ofl

a bid and the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution
of a contract for such employment.
