AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE PRACTICE OF FORTUNE TELLING
OR OF ANY OTHER SIMILAR OCCUPATION A PUBLIC NUISANCE, PROHIBITIN(
ANY PERSON FROM ENGAGING IN SUCH BUSINESS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR ANY VIOLATION THEREOF
BE IT ORDAINED by THE BOARD OF COWISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION ONE
The business of an astrologer, clairvoyant, faith doctor,
fortune teller, hypnotist, palmist, phrenologist or any other
similar business in which a person for a fee or charge undertakes
to read or gain control over the mind of another, or undertakes
to tell the fortune of another or to foretell future events, is
hereby declared to be a nuisance and is prohibited, and it shall
be unlawful for any such person to advertise or practice his act,
profession or business in the City of Paducah.
SEC TION TIlO
Any person, firm, company or corporation who shall, within
the corporate limits of the City of Paducah, cause, create, permit,
keep or otherwise maintain a nuisance as declared and defined in
Section one hereof, or who shall advertise, practice or carry on
any of the acts, professions, or businesses referred to therein,
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall
be fined not less than Five (x5.00) Dollars, nor more than One Hund•
red ($100.00) Dollars, and each day said nuisance shall continue or
such act, profession or business is carried on shall constitute a
separate offense.
SECTION THREE
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect on and
after January 1, 1947.
