AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED:
"AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE BUILDING CODE RECOMMENDED BY THE
NATIONAL BOARD OF FIRE UNDERWRITERS, EXCEPT CERTAIN CLAUSES AND
SECTIONS THEREOF WHICH ARE HEREBY EXPRESSLY ELIMINATED, AND ALSO

ADOPTING THE STANDARDS OF SAFETY APPROVED BY THE DIVISION OF INSU
FIRE PREVENTION AND RATES SECTION OF THE STATE OF KENTUCKY; PROVI
FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A BUILDING INSPECTOR TO ADMINISTER AND ENF
THE PROVISIONS OF THE BUILDING CODE AND THE STANDARDS OF SAFETY;
FIXINq THE FEES TO BE CHARGED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR BUILDING
WRECKING PERMITS; FIXING AND PRESCRIBING THE QUALIFICATIONS OF THE
BUILDING INSPECTOR, HIS COMPENSATION, POWERS AND DUTIES; PROVIDING
A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
THEREWITH; AND FIXING THE PENALTT FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF", 141,HI

SEPTEMBER, 1946
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That Section 2 of an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
ADOPTING THE BIIILDING CODE RECOMMENDED BY THE NATIONAL BOARD OF
FIRE UNDERWRITERS, EXCEPT CERTAIN CLAUSES AND SECTIONS THEREOF WHIC;
ARE HEREBY EXPRESSLY ELIMINATED, AND ALSO ADOPTING THE STANDARDS
OF SAFETY AIPROVED BY THE DIVISION OF INSURANCE FIRE PREVENTION AND
RATES SECTION OF THE STATE OF KENTUCKY; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTME
OF A BIIILDING INSPECTOR TO ADMINISTER AND ENFORCE THE PRO.ISIONB' OF
THE BUILDING CODE AND THE STANDARDS OF SAFETY; FIXING THE FEES TO

BE CHARGED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR BUILDING AND WRECKING 'PER -1:S.1-,;
FIXING AND PRESCRIBING THE QUALIFICATIONS OF THE BUILDING INSPECTOR
HIS COMPENSATION, POWERS AND DUTIES, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUS
AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND FIXING THE
PENALTY FOR THE BIOLATION THEREOF", which was adopted by the Board
of CodLmissioners on the 24th day of September, 1946, be and the
same is hereby amended so that said section as amended shall read
as follows:
"SECTION TWO. In order to further effectively put into opera-
tion said Building Code mentioned and described in Section 1 hereof;
the Standards of Safety as adopted and approved and published in
1946 by the Directmn, Division of Insurance of the Commonwealth of
Kentucky, in accordance with Chapter 227, Section 227,030 (2) KRS
1944 Revised or as said Standards of Safety may be herediter amender
or revised, are hereby adopted as a part of the Building Code and
the Standards of Safety of the City of Paducah, and a copy of said

Standards of Safety of 1946 is attached hereto and made a part
hereof, and is to be treated as a part of this ordinance to the
extent as if fully copied herein."
Provided, however, that Section 1905 as the same appears
in the aforesaid Standards of Safety is hereby declared to be of r.
effect and void, and said section is hereby amended and as amended
the same shall read as follows;
Section 1905
"Except with the approval of the Board of Commissioners
of the City of Paducah, above ground storage containers shall
not be located inside the fire limits, and unless approved by
said Board, no above ground storage containers having a water
capacity in excess of 500 gallons shall be located elsewhere
within the corporate limits.
Except with the approval of said Board, underground storage
containers having a water capacity in excess of 500,gallons shall
not be located inside the fire limits.
Except with the approval of said Board, above ground storage
containers, inside the corporate limits shall not be permitted in
conjested areas or in built up neighborhoods primarily of a
dwelling character."
SEC TION Wo
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and of
its adoption.
