PRESCRIBING HIS POUTERS AND DUTIES AND FIXING TdE AMOUNT OF
COMPENSATION WHICH HE SHALL RECEIVE FOR HIS SERVICES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SEC TION 1.
The City Manager is hereby authorized to appoint a
suitable person to fill the position of wharfmaster who
shall have control of the hull of the steamer "Muscatine"
which serves as the city wharf. The wharfmaster shall be
employed during such hours as may be determined by the city
Manager, and shall be subject to any and all orders issued by the
City Manager. He shall have the power to control the movement
and operation of boats and barges which tie up at said wharf,
to remove one in prder that another may make a landing, and
to place same so as to give equal service as soon as possible
to all persons desiring to use the same; and he shall at all
times compel boats and barges, not receiving or discharging
freight, to give place to boats and barges ready to receive or
discharge their cargoes.
SECTION 2.
Upon the failure of the owner, or other persons in
charge of such boat or barge to comply with the requirements
of Section 1 hereof, after being notified by the wharfmaster
to remove such boats, bargo or other craft, such owner or
other person in charge of such boat, or barge or other craft,
shall be fined in the sum of Twenty-five (.;25.00) Dollars for
each and every failure to comply.
SECTION 3.
It shall be the further duty of the wharfmaster to
relocate the wharf when required to do so by reason of the
rising and falling of the river in order that motor trucks and
other behicles may use the same in driving on and off for the
purpose of loading and unloading of cargoes. He shall at all
times keep said wharf clean, free of trash and obstructions and
in condition for use of trucks and other vehicles. He shall
have power to compel persons who may place machinery, freight,
merchandise or other things upon said wharf to remove the same
trihthin a reasonable time after the same have been deposited and
they shall be fined not less than Five (55.00) Dollars nor more
than Ten (.10.00) Dollars for each day such obstruction or such
articles shall remain thereon.

SEC TION 4.
The Wharfmaster shall receive a salary of $80.00 per
. month for his services and shall be paid at the same time
the salaries of other employees are paid.
SEC TION 5.
There is hereby appropriated the sum of 020.00 for
payment of the salary of the wharfmaster for the period from
September 1st, 1946 to January 1st, 1947, and tte amount of said
appropriation shall be charged to the contingent fund.
SECTION 6.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 7.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
land after its adoption.
